Anybody planning on going to this one? I got tix yesterday, although I was surprised to find that no good seats were available on line. Mine are in section 108 which is one of the corner sections.

I was planning on going - can't imagine anything worse than the allocation UoM provided us. I bought two tickets from Bucknell for $20 each that were so atrocious I didn't use. There were Stubhub tickets available for $2 that were better than the ones I bought. Then I got complimentary tickets and they were the same as the first two. Bucknell's ticket office should have advised BU Alumni that the UoM allocation was crap and returned them. Thanks for advising so I can get on it now.

Old Bison, in which section did you end up getting tix. Did you do better than Sec 108? If so, what is the secret? Anywhere I looked for tix they were only offering 108, 112 and anothe less desirable section, and I am sure they are not close to a sellout. There is a pic inNewsday today of their win overBrown last night and there were plenty of empty seats.
Seats weren’t cheap either.

Bison have a good shot IF they play well. Otherwise they could easily lose. Pomeroy makes the Bison a 4-point favorite. SB lost by 15 points at Marland and by 8 points at UConn.

Actually the Md game was on Long Island, but not at SBU. It was played at the newly refurbished Nassau Colisseum. So it was a semi home game for SBU. If Bison shoot like we did vs Ball St, they could lose, but it is a “should win†for sure.

Pomeroy has it at 63% with a predicted score of 79-75. Fwiw, we have not “held†anybody to 75 points this season.

I’ll just add the obvious
1. It’s as road game...they’re all tough
2. Like Monmouth, SB is a program that has had recent success...King Rice had a good game plan
3. If you don’t shoot it well you can lose any game against a decent/quality club
4. We won’t score 29 or 39 from the line on the road
5. We got 1-2 guys out and 1 possibly playing impaired
Bottom line is we need to play 40 minutes...can’t dial it in in the 1st half. We’ll be ok

OB, I think that the keys are DEFENSE and FTs. This team needs to start playing much better D if they want to achieve anything, and the FTs need to continue to go in as they have the past 2 games.

I was just about to make came comment 89...
Arkansas game aside, the difference in being 5-1 or 4-2 rather than 2-4 hasn't been our shooting, it's been our FTs & perimeter defense. I think our perimeter d has been the biggest issue regardless of how the other team is shooting bc it also affects our rebounding. We're getting beat on the boards bc we're not closing out on the shooters & not in position to box out.

I'm confident we are going to beat Stonybrook handily. We are on a two game winning streak and things are starting to come together for the team. Nana has got his legs and Zach and Stephen are playing well. Bruce Moore is reaching the curve and playing well. Kimbal is healing up and will be a factor. Not to Mention a strong bench. Bucknell by 25.

As a rule imo, this team has not been as good as we had hoped. This was to be one of the all time great teams that would win one or two game vs power conference teams. Instead we have been just not quite good enough (Mon, NC, and Md, and I think all agree we should have won at least 2 of these 3), or barely good enough (Ball St). There will be games like Ball, when it just does not seem to be happening, and if that game was an anomaly i’d be fine, but we have had a string of games, any one of which can be rationalized, starting withTowson. Once again imo, the missing ingredient has been K-Mac. He is obviously not right, and until he is this team will not reach its full potential.

Stony Brook game 11-24-17 01:00 PM - Post#237525

I am not down on the team but yeah, I expected to win another game or two at this point. To me the biggest causes for the losses are glaring: defense and rebounding. Including the Towson scrimmage, the Bison are giving up 89 points...ON AVERAGE! There is no way this can continue, and I don’t care what the pace of play is. That is too much pressure on offense. No way we can average 90-95 ppg in order to make up for bad defense. Perimeter defense hasn’t been good but the interior defense hasn’t been a lot better, overall. I get we played some big and athletic teams but that isn’t the entire story. I am willing my to bet that Coach Davis and staff are not happy with giving up 89 ppg no matter who the opponents. Until these two areas are shored up, this team will not reach the lofty heights they expect from themselves, let alone what media and fans thought were reachable.

I consider the 2004-05 Bison one of the great all-time teams and they started 3-4 with losses to Princeton, St Francis (PA), Iowa State and Penn and wins over Northern Colorado, Rider and Stephen F Austin. My hopes remain high for a team that was up 15 at Maryland and down 1 in the second half at #9 UNC.

Possible games of interest to readers of this board: Football...LU at StonyBrook in FCS round 1 game, Basketball...VT AT Yale in a game that should give us an idea of how VT looks on the road against a fairly strong mid major. Both games on ESPN3 at 2pm.

Can I watch ESPN3 games on demand? There is a little conflict called the E-A-G-L-E-S! We have about 20 people coming over, and Mrs. Bison89 would not be happy if I snuck into my home office to watch the Bison play.
