Away game against an experienced group that beat Holy Cross by 11 points (87-76) -- game was tied with 5 minutes to go but FDU closed it out. Leading scorer/rebounder is athletic 6'8" PF junior, Holloway, who will present problems -- not sure as to who will guard him. 6'3" guard, Edge, is also a strong player with Anderson, a senior, and leading scorer from last year back in action.
team is shooting 41% on 3 pointers -- they rebound and create steals but they do turn over the ball and not a great PT shooting team. Tigers will probably try to slow down the pace.

This game will be far more challenging than Lafayette and Tigers better be ready to play.

So far, so good. Aririguzoh gets the start and has two thunderous dunks early on. Tigers up 29-14? with 9:28 left in the half.

Gladson is in uniform but hasn’t not appeared in first ten minutes.

Sparse crowd.

Phew! Late first half lead of 27 cut to 4 late in game before foul shots put it away. Some encouraging play by LeBlanc, Aririguzoh and Much. Again Brennan a no show and Bell a mixed bag. Stephens and Cannady save us.

That was an awesome first half. Didn't see the second, but from the stats the Tigers must have turned the ball over a ton against FDU's press after being clean in the first half. Nice to see Much look good again and Aririguzoh hold his own. Bell did have five assists and played good defense when I saw him. Cannady did a passable Steph Curry imitation on some of those treys. Stephens was a beast.

Cannady shot lights out but made some very poor passes.

First 37 minutes were actually pretty good but then a 13 point lead shrunk to 4 because of lack of poise and TOs. But the Tigers hung on, which was a relief. Positives were really good ball movement and lack of over-reliance on the three stars. Except for too many TOs Arrirriguzoh looked really active, physical and confident. All three freshman had moments as did LeBlanc early on, Stephens was his usual low-key but highly productive self and Cannady was on fire although he got fewer looks in the second half. I agree that Bell had several bad moments with forced shots and not playing in control but he also had 5 assists and 6 boards. All in all a solid if nerve-wracking away win.

One nice thing about last year's team that, if I remember correctly, had been missing from some of MH's previous units was that they tended to play very strong in the second half. This year's edition seems to play worse in the second half, perhaps due to a lack of depth but also perhaps because of the loss of some seasoned leadership that needs to develop.

I missed the game but I am curious if FDU played zone defense in the 1st half. They did against Holy Cross and then they switched to full court press with man to man in their comeback win. They seemed to get energized with the press against HC. Playing zone against Tigers 3 pt shooters is not a wise move if they did.

Cannady has played very well so far. I know that Noah Savage was critiquing him in one or two games but without Cannady's play, the Tigers would not have been in the hunt during every game. Bell is just so hard to figure out but Brennan's play is not so hard to understand based on his performance over the past 3+years.

Team is a work-in-progress --- Coach is going to have to figure out how to put the pieces together. There is talent but ....

FDU started out with full-court pressure and continued it throughout the first half, but the Tigers cracked it with ease and only committed one TO. The Knights played man-to-man in the first half in the half court.

Thanks. I was able to look at the replay of the game if you hit the live button in the last hour?? Strikes me as a good learning session for the Tigers as it showed how well they can play, first half, coming at lethargic at the beginning of the 2nd half and then regrouping and finally, losing their composure during the last 5 minutes including the big three experienced players.

Arirguzoh and Much are contributing both ways which is a big plus. Somehow, coaching staff needs to get Bell's shot straightened out as well as Stephens 3 pt shot.

Remarkably, other teams are hitting 86% of their foul shots and the Tigers are fouling more than last year. Defense, including less turnovers and less steals are major changes from last year. Shooting is very good.

Too many fouls, too few steals. Pretty good job in the first half of cutting off drives and fronting or collapsing on the post. Not bad at forcing awkward shots when FDU put up three-point attempts. Good rebounding. Presumably some of that deteriorated second half.

I am not surprised that this team started 2-3. Cannady might be the best 3 point shooter in the country but he will not continue at a 60% rate. Bell was slow to get off the blocks a year ago but was as consistent down the stretch as the first team all-Ivy guys. Stephens showed in yesterday's game how he can carry a team on his back. After The Big Three questions abound. Gladson's absence has given Brennan and Aririguzoh a chance to step up. The latter has, the former has not. Ari is foul prone ala Pete Miller, but we can't defend very well without him. Much has emerged from the freshmen gaggle
quicker than the others but all have shown promise. LeBlanc is a pleasant surprise. The lack of backcourt depth is a concern. Young is small, Morales even smaller. Safe to say this bunch will improve but Harvard has a higher ceiling for sure

Just as I like LeBlanc and Aririguzoh for their energy and enthusiasm, so, too, I like Morales. In his and Ari's case, they simply need to harness and channel all that energy. LeBlanc is further along and seems to be blessed with good court sense and a cool head. All three could give us great contributions in their remaining time here. 🐅

Vitorrio Reynoso-Avila seems to be the forgotten man on this team. A three star recruit with almost no PT last year, and no real appearances this year.

True. Maybe his practice time has undermined those 3*s?
