Jarrod is really opening some thing up out there. His ability to take it strong and also pass well serves him well in this role, especially vs smaller teams.

Simmons looks good out there. Up 12 with 7 and change to play. One more scoring spurt and this game is history.

The camera operator finally realized there's a way to pan out to actually capture the entire court.

Of course the players now look like Lilliputians but at least you can see every shot attempt.

In complete fairness, the press box is not video-friendly. Kind of a weird gym in general: it has one of those walls around the court, and both ends have entrances wiping out the seats behind the baskets.

Understood, but the camera operator does not possess, shall we say, great hand-eye coordination.

Oh, not denying he's incompetent, just that the infrastructure's not helping.

Gotta hit FTs. Should still win this one, but need a couple of makes at the line before it's over.

At some point some of these guys need to just sit until they show they can make a free throw.

Wood with 26, new career high, and that does it with his last 3.

The officials realized the absurdity of trying to rely on our good buddy, the camera operator, for an instant replay decision.

Well, we averted what could have been a full fledged disaster well into the first half.

And Columbia loses to Quinnipiac--at home.

Not a good year for the Ivy League. I guess if we're Penn we'll take beating bad teams for now.

In other Ivy League Men's Basketball News, Columbia, who was an 11-point favorite, loses to Quinnipiac (a 300+ Pomeroy) at home 89-87 to fall to 1-7...

Not the prettiest Penn win, but a win. I'll take it...

Is anyone able to find a box score for this game? No outlet seems to have it. Ridiculous.

That's the same Columbia team that took UConn to OT and should have won? How does that happen? Although I see UConn barely beat Monmouth so who knows.

UConn is terrible. A shadow of what they once were. Guess Glen Miller wasn't the problem.

We had lots of everything tonight--assists, boards, turnovers, steals, threes. Not as many fouls as usual, but still quite a few.

Simmons probably has a decent line. Sam Jones was reasonably active in the first half. Wood the obvious star. I can't imagine Foreman took 10 shots, so that must mean we won the game.

Doesn't say much about Oregon, who they beat by 8.

Back to the game, I think it's a safe bet that Jarrod is earning more and more minutes. I am really excited to see what he can become.

Don't understate the contribution of Sam Jones. He played 10 minutes when things were going terribly. Made a three when nobody else on the team could hit the ocean from a rowboat, pulled down 6 rebounds and didn't commit a TO.

Big hand for Sam.

Jarrod had a nice game. He looked small when playing against some meatier opponents in the Monmouth game. He looked much bigger against Howard. He had some nice cuts, defended well, and scored a few nice buckets.

That said, I watched his positioning and he doesn't box out aggressively. when the ball goes in the area. He'll make some contact with his shoulder and try to hold his ground, but he doesn't clear out his opponent with his glutes and use his wingspan to be hard to go around. It's frustrating to watch. Max and AJ both do a pretty good job on this front, and so has every forward I've seen that became a star. Being more physical will also help him get better post position on offense. He needs to find a body any time a shot goes up.
