Phaeacian is a word from Greek mythology ( Odyssey). Apparently it is a place inhabited by hedonistic people.

What was the story on Bruce Moore? Started but didn't get a lot of minutes.

As mentioned above, one possible reason is that he was beat a couple of times on backdoor cuts. Richmond's Princeton Offense is probably a tough matchup for him - having to guard a much smaller, quicker forward who is cutting to the basket or around screens constantly.

However another reason had to do with foul problems. In his second appearance in the game, he picked up two fouls in 2:30 and went to the bench for the rest of the half, with the Bison opting for a smaller lineup. He then started the second half - so at that point ND apparently wasn't unhappy with his play - but he picked up foul #3 in the first 12 seconds, which meant an automatic trip to the bench - this time subbed for by Nate Jones. By the time it reached the point where he might have re-entered the game (maybe at the 10:00 mark), the Bison were playing well and apparently ND was happy with Jones' defense - so Moore never went back in.

As it turned out, Jones played about 18 minutes in the second half alone - which has to be a career high.

Gl In light of #2 above I would love to test a 2-3 with Zach, Nana & Nate S in the back

I too would love to see an occasional zone, but I think ND has shown that he has absolutely no interest in anything other than M2M. Since Jones got hurt last year, you can count the possessions where BU has used zone on two hands. A zone with both Sestina and Foulland would be interesting - but I don't think you could use that until late in a game because of the need to keep Nate out of foul trouble to be available to back up Nana. Last night was one of the few games where Nate stayed out of foul trouble, and it allowed him to play 16 good minutes.

In any event, I don't see how it would hurt to occasionally change up the defense with some sort of zone. That might be an issue at Holy Cross, which is a team that has performed much worse against zones under Carmody. It is also, coincidentally, a team that plays a Princeton offense somewhat similar to that of Richmond.

Been confused why Davis won't use zone. Met him in 2004 when he ran Flannery's defensive sets, 99% of which were zone based. One of his most effective players was Darren Mastropaolo, at 6'8" and 250 lbs not great at man to man but effective at rebounding and blocking off the lane when employed in a zone. Seems like Sestina at 6' 9", 247 lbs exactly fits this model.

Agree with JDB2010 - Meeks has shown a nose for the basket all year. He's a real "tweener" though with respect to OOC defensive play but should be fine in PL.

My buddy and I were talking about Meeks during the terrible St. Joe's game. We noticed that he does not seem to be very fast, but he is smooth. Probably quicker than we think. Also, he puts himself in a good position to rebound and score. He seems to understand the game.
New season, new team, new dream . . .

I'm glad we won. I'm still on the fence if this tough out of conference schedule was helpful or harmful. I'm going to enjoy a local Div. 1 basketball game Friday and then forget about the ooc and start fresh with the Patriot league. We are going to do alright. Not thinking about march after what I've seen so far.
I need some Bucknell warm fuzzies- lets make Sechan a schollie player. I think we have one available and it would cement the team in positive ways. He's already played in games. Is this possible?

It would be possible except that Bucknell has no scholarships available. NCAA max is 13. I think he has the ability to go into a game in an emergency and do an OK job at the point, and he seems to have a good attitude - so it looks like a good walk-on situation.

Fwiw, his family is in a good financial place. He went to two expensive private schools and lives in one of the nation's wealthiest communities. Dad has a very high-level job.

Richmond lost at BC today in OT. Fought back from a 12-point deficit to take the lead with a minute left but couldn't hold it. BC is now 10-3.
