DC should keep the ball when they're trying to foul. And why is Devivier not doubled immediately in that situation?

It actually looked like they were trying to foul Cannady on the last trip up the floor. Why he gave up the ball when Zips were desperate to foul we'll never know.

The pass and catch were not pretty but it turned out all right for Princeton in the end.

Great recovery, great win. I give Mitch a lot of grief, but the guys clearly came out with some FIRE after halftime tonight.
Sebastian Much is going to be an Ivy POY candidate as an upperclassman. The shooting, the passing, the active hands and feet on defense.

Good win when the threes wasn't working too well and they were committing too many turnovers against a gritty, athletic team. Plenty of fight to go with the flashes of skill.

Stat of the night: Tigers held Akron to 8-27 inside the arc, including 0-8 on shots outside the lane but inside the arc.
Uncharacteristically getting out-treyed in both attempts and percentage, taking five fewer FGA because of turnovers and ORs given up, Princeton still wins by hitting one more FT in equal attempts while going 16-28 inside the arc, 3-4 from outside the lane (actually just outside the paint).

True. After two very challenging games in three days against very good teams, tonight was a trap game and the Tigers came very close to falling in the trap. At the end of the day, it is a character building win and should serve them well down the road.
If they won convincingly, it would have been a very good sign but the Tigers are still a work-in-progress. Bottom line is that they have turned the ship around from a disastrous start. Very tough game on Monday but Cannady may light it up after a day on the beach. Mitch and staff have done an excellent job. Tigers should be proud of what they have accomplished over the past five games. Looking forward to them taking the floor at the Palestra.

Much and Schwieger establishing themselves in the rotation. Amazing that a freshman makes two big plays like Much did down the stretch. Who fills out the rotation? I think the switch is going to flip on Desrosiers soon. Young and Brennan are known quantities. Aririguzoh is what he is. Do we know anything about Gladson’s injury? Barnes? Morales?

I contend that the Cal Poly game was a HUGE confidence boost for our interior defense and freshman bigs. They got to see clear results from their hard work and tenacity.
This is one reason I'd like to schedule an easier slate to start non-conf and then finish it off with an event like the Diamond Head where you can face 1-2 great opponents. If you make adjustments after losses to Butler and BYU only to get crushed by Miami and lose again to GW, you don't learn a lot. It's also easy to get down on yourself when you're 0-3, 2-5. That's how you lose wire-to-wire at home to Lehigh.
As for a two-bid Ivy, I think the best strategy is to rack up a gaudy record against cupcakes and win 1 of the 2 "marquee" games you schedule in non-conf. Heck, the Selection Committee even considers close losses to be a positive.
Taking into account the Ivy tourney, a 26-3 record with a 1-1 or 0-1 record against Top 40 teams is better than a 23-6 record with a 1-3 or 0-3 record against Top 40 teams.

Watching replay and Tigers played good defense for the first 15 minutes but the offense was out of sync during most of the 1st half -- less ball movement. I thought that Schweiger had a very poor defensive performance in the 1st half as he was a half step late and did not lift in defending 3 pt shots -- flat footed. Arirguzoh gives the Tigers a lift and he is a good passer.
Looks like heavy legs for both teams, especially Cannady on offense.
Much reminds me of Brase as a 3 pt shooter when he was a freshmen although more skilled with the ball. Young reminds me of a less productive Clay Wilson as to style.

Bell and Much played exceptionally well and Cannady's rebounding was outstanding. Arirguzoh made a significant contribution and although Stephens hit very tough shot to win it, he did not play as well as recently. I am not sure why Schewiger got so much time.
Bell's game tonight on offense reminded me of a different version of Weisz but he just gives 3pt shooters open looks by driving and dishing. Much is simply just a player -- shooting and passing, fundamentally sound. Much is athletic, not crazy athletic, but he knows how to play the game plus he has no fear like Cannady.
Although against Mitch's instincts, he should start Bell, Cannady, Stephens, Much and Arirguzoh. Best balance plus good passers and defenders -- open looks and contest shots.

Somewhat of a surprise as Hawaii topped Davidson. Tigers will play for 5th spot against home team. Last year, they played at Pearl Harbor Invitational and Tigers won by 13 after jumping off to a big lead thanks to Cook and Weisz. Should be a good tough game as Hawaii is 8-3 and better than Kenpom ranking.
Miami upset by New Mexico -- good competitive tournament.

It doesn't seem that the defenses have been any more focused on Cannady than earlier in he season. On the other hand he appears to be stepping up his own defense and getting more involved rebounding. This larger role may be affecting his natural delivery. He'll work it out.
