I have a recollection Maloney did it, but that could be faulty.
Will research this topic before I get ready for Shabbat.
Pretty sure the only accomplishment being celebrated is cheesesteak-related.
Has anybody ever compiled a list of Penn players who have made cheesesteaks happen?

OK, that didn't take too long:

I watched lots of Johns Hopkins for 4 years and I have no doubt those teams would have been able to compete with what I saw on Wednesday. The point is, Princeton chooses to schedule this game each season, fully knowing what they're getting. It's not Penn's fault that the Hornets were missing their two best players.

By the way, that article cannot be correct.
I just checked the yearly Penn results and Penn in 1994-5 had two home games (FDU and Cornell) where they scored 101 points and won.
Further historical digging awaits after Shabbat.

That's fair, but it's the right strategic move for the team involved. Penn benefits the league by playing Delaware State and a weak schedule overall, because it brings its inflated W-L record into league play, where it hits other Ivies' SOS (50% of RPI calc) twice. Meanwhile, Penn gets hit with Del St.'s (and other weak opponents') awful record in its SOS calc, hurting its own RPI.
It was pretty clear heading into the season that Columbia, Harvard, Princeton and Yale had scheduled up and Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn hadn't. The way the RPI calc works, scheduling up is actually a negative, unless you plan on being in at large contention, so the latter four were doing the rest of the league a favor by scheduling for enhanced W-L records.
Since Non-D1 games don't count toward the RPI, those are a nice way to get an easy game without tanking your RPI like Penn's game versus Del St. did (right now costing Penn about 10 ranking spots).

Vegas heard. I think that's why they were like a 21-23 point favorite.
Blew that baby away before halftime.
Then guys whose numbers I didn't even know took care of the rest.
Did you know that an anagram of Rowan is WAR ON?
I think ours is.

Princeton made it especially hard on itself that year. Incarnate Word had just moved up from Division II. None of that DIII riffraff.

Seriously? What difference does it make now or after March 3rd if Penn's RPI ranking is 10 points higher or lower? If we make the NCAA Tourney (from my lips to God's ears), what's the difference? A 14 seed vs a 15 seed? a 15 seed or a play-in game? If we don't make the NCAA Tourney, then how does it matter? Our kids got an enjoyable win. Ray Jerome got some playing time and played well. Jacob Mijakowski got some playing time and played well. etc. Tommy Johnston almost got into the game.
Should Penn have scheduled the Villanova game after a 3-week lay-off instead? Or Temple? Maybe we schedule an away game against Duke?
Are we even having this conversation if Penn beats DSU by 25? Give the kids credit to understand that they played an inferior team, and give SD and his coaching staff credit that he will remind them that Toledo (and the rest of the schedule, especially Princeton next Friday) will provide a tougher challenge.
