Lets stop babying Paul Newman and get him in the game. Give the big three (Foulland Thomas, Brown) a rest and start Newman, Sotos and Meeks with Robertson and Moore in there too. Make it a little closer game.

I assume you’re talking about Paul Newman the actor and not the lightly recruited freshmen center playing behind the PL POY?

American will once again be without starting center Mark Gasperini, who last year was one of the league's top few freshman. He has missed the entire season with a concussion.

American needs more than Mark Gasperini
On a separate note the thought of seeing any zone is out the window. If we didn’t use tactically in OOC play it’s a foregone conclusion in PL. The way we defend the strong side of the court should fit well against American and HC because of what they try to do. Colgate and Lehigh really with the only personnel that can try to exploit. Defensive numbers should really improve from here as rotations will look a lot better. That’s all I can see from here. Still tough to win on the road, and you still have to compete hard every time out but I don’t see many bumps in the road from here.

Not to sound too optimistic but I think its going to be a runaway here. Their goal has always been the Patriot League so they will be on their game and Foulland had a breakout game last week and it will continue tonight especially with their center out. Zach and Stephen Brown will play well also. I'd like to see Bruce Moore do well and of course Robertson also. Tonight may be a good chance to see Robertson do his thing and I hope Newman gets some minutes. New season starts tonight!

With Nelson out, no reason we don’t win this game by 20-25 without breaking a sweat. A little sloppy early.

What a difference the Conference schedule makes! It's great to hold anyone to under 80 points - let alone under 60. It wasn't a thing of beauty but we're finally at .500. We won't win them all but this team should cut through the PL like a knife through warm butter. Especially if we get MacKenzie and Toomer back.

The area of most improvement fr us, which enabled us to hold them under 60 was our free throw defense.

Nana Dunking, Zach bulling his way in, Brown with his soft jumpers...Even Birdsong try as he might is going to have a hard time making this an exciting year. They will win the League, with a Paulson asterisk included, next year its back to PL .500 so enjoy the ride.

That's a long way back. The last time the Bison were .500 or worse in PL play was 2008-09. Counting this season, BU will have finished above .500 in 24 out of 28 seasons since the PL was formed - usually well above .500.
While next year's team clearly will not be as good as this year's team, I think the talent is there to contend for a top spot in league play. Few teams in the league will have a better starting lineup than Sesina, Mackenzie, Sotos, Toomer, and Moore - and the bench should be fairly good. Biggest need is a solid backup center.

Hate to look that far ahead, but my feeling is next year could be a tough season. Yeah we will be competitive but I just don’t see a top 3 finish. Yes a backup to Nate is essential and unless we get a super freshman, we don’t have one. Also, not sure how we will replace 50-55 points per game. The lineup 137 proposed isn’t bad, just do not see a pile of points. Maybe next year when each of the guys is asked to fill different roles their offensive games will blossom.

I could not agree more. While next year will see lots of current backups getting tons of minutes, IMO, the 2018-2019 Bison will be lots of fun to watch and have a very good chance at yet another PL regular season championship. Not having as much pressure as this season might even make it easier for them to have fun.

14 games into this current season, 1 and 0 in Patriot League , and some of the posters on this site are predicting the demise of Bison Basketball, starting next season. as someone that has been watching the Bison since the 1950's and has seen the highs and the lows, I am pretty happy with the state of our team, Coaches and players, and for me, will think about this Fridays game, and will think about the 18-19 season, after this one has ended.

I agree as well, except I do not recall any predictions of the demise of Bison hoops, only that next season will be aretooling season after the loss of the current big 3. I hope we do cruise through the PL and are able to give the underclass men lots of playing time enabling them to be all the more ready when they take over.

Call it what you will, "next year it's back to PL .500, enjoy the ride", " "competitive, I just don't see a top 3", I for one can't get that pessimistic about next season with one league game completed this year. Playing without 2 underclassmen starters, and the toughest schedule in our history, we are fine and will be fine. I wouldn't trade our roster for anyone else in the League and that includes the players that will be our team next season. We have survived the graduation of some mighty good players over the years, and we have done pretty well, there are banners hanging all over our building, must mean we did better then the other teams in the League. My thoughts.

Well it is just conversation. If anyone chooses to take things personally that’s on them. Since you quoted some of my comment, I do not believe “competitive†is a negative...many teams aren’t. When you are competitive, which Bucknell typically is, you always have a chance to win. And in my view, without knowing the future, I think it will be difficult to be a Top 3 team next year. Not impossible, I would just have to see how different guys step up into very new roles. And speaking of the future, I’ve read and heard more than once that recruiting is a bit of a concern at this moment. I have no inside information, just what I hear and read. So there are many factors that just can’t be known. Of course I have confidence in the program but even the best have to take time to regroup. Recently, Bucknell certainly had to do it 2007-8, 2008-9, 2009-10 and 2013-14. And even those more difficult seasons I enjoyed attending games and following the team.
But I am not looking past this current season that could be very special. I am definitely enjoying this season now and look forward to Kimbal and Avi returning so this team can peak by tournament time. And I am thankful for the contributions of every player and coach. Ray Bucknell!

This is terrible. 4:47 mark and this team is down 7. Correction 10. Awful effort. I’m not exactly sure what the deal is but this is clearly not the team that played WVU to a close game in last year’s tournament.
