Boston U has had an average offense this year, but as you note, they put up big points vs Army. There were a few reasons for that:
1. Army is one of the fastest-paced teams in the country, and there were a lot of possessions in this game.
2. Boston shot 12-26 (46%) on threes - well above their normal 37%.
3. Army played poor defense in the final minutes (maybe a futile press?) and then committed 8 intentional fouls in the last 1:14. Thus Boston scored 29 points in the final 7 minutes and went 11-16 from the FT line in the final 1:14.
4. Cedric Hankerson had a break-out game, ending with 34 points. He hit 5-6 on twos, 5-8 on threes, and 8-10 on FT's. Many will remember that Hankerson was one of the league's top players back in 2014-15, making 2nd team All-PL, before suffering two knee injuries. He also was a preseason 1st team All-PL the following season, but missed the whole year with injury. Then last year he was very mediocre. Has scored 20+ in three of the last four games. If he has suddenly become what he used to be, that would make them very tough.

Boston U starts two freshmen. The more highly acclaimed one, Walter Whyte, a 6-6 SF, had 30 scholarship offers, including ones from seven A-10 schools four CAA schools, Yale, Penn, and Rice. The other starting freshman is Javante McCoy, a 6-5 PG. He won't be quick enough to stay with Stephen Brown but Brown may be challenged guarding him at the other end if they choose to post him.

Anyone know if Nick Havener is playing or what his injury is? I saw he got hurt the game before Army and then didn't play vs Army.

That differential is worth about 1.5 FGs, or 3-6 points

He has a sprained ankle, but apparently not a high ankle sprain. Boston U announcers said he may play at some point during their two-game road trip (at Bucknell, then Loyola).

Hope Doug Birdsong is reading this, he can use the above to make this game sound interesting. Reality however is that this team has wins over New Hampshire, Maine, Bethune Cookman, none of whom are very good, and none of whom they beat very badly. Then toss in the slaughter of Wheaton (who?) and the Army win as the Black Knights wake up to the reality that it is PL season. No, they are not American, but we should roll again.

I hope you're right, but if Hankerson is playing well, I think Boston is very dangerous. He has the ability to be the league's third best player.
True, they didn't play well in the OOC season - but there is a reason why the coaches/SID's picked them for 2nd place in the preseason poll. And they did finish 2nd last year with many of the same players. With two freshman starters, I think they should improve as time goes by.
Since they joined the Patriot League, Boston U is 48-25 in league play. That is the 2nd best record during that time span - well ahead of Lehigh.

Boston is always dangerous and in spite of some less than stellar OOC games, I expect a tough game tomorrow. Plus, if our offense is off in any game, we can def be defeated. That said, I still think we win.

We win by roughly 13.5. I have taken each teams algorithmic probabilities of 6 parts of the game (commonly found on espn), and set up atomic detectors correlating with these probabilities. I then connected them together by way of raspberry pi leading to one main detector. When all 12 simultaneously detect it goes to the main detector, and then charge of (----) particle (positive, negative or neutral charge is detected. This determines a win, lose, or tie. Thankfully to the Lorenz equation and time diffusion ( speed almost c of particle) the future is not only predicted but a foregone conclusion. We win.

If we do not start getting stops pretty quick, this game is over. We are stinking the joint out. Who said this would be an easy win?

Down 70-59 under six. Looking bleak. No defense, no offense.

Wow. Tough loss at home. They were outplayed. Time to start Jones and give Sestina some more playing time. Hats off to Boston, they get the win.

I'll say it again - there are only three games that matter and they're not until March. Keep some perspective folks. Boston is a good team.
This was a game where Kimbal's shooting could have made the difference. They were making 3's and we weren't.
But the real issue was how poorly we handled their zone in the 1st half and early 2nd. Giving up 12 steals in a half isn't going to win many games. The guys showed some grit to fight back and cut it to 3 late. On to West Point.
