Morgan scored 26,33, 34, and 25 in the four games. He is tops in the Ivy League and 3rd in the nation with 25.3 points per game. He is shooting 51% overall and 40% from three.

Gettings scored 13, 30, 39 and 12. His average is now at 15.9 ppg. He has 2.3 assists, but only 1.8 turnovers per game.

Julian is leading the Ivy League with 1.8 blocks per game and is second with 7.0 rebounds per game.

Wil Bathurst has now missed the last 5 games. Terrance McBride started at the PG spot vs Longwood and Lafayette. He missed the next two games, but came off the bench for 12 minutes against Auburn. Joel Davis has started the last 3 games (averaging 26.3 minutes, 4.3 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 turnovers in those three games).

For the season, Josh Warren is averaging 14.5 minutes, 4.4 points (43.4% FG%), and 3.7 rebounds a game. His 2016-2017 numbers, for comparison, were 17.9 minutes, 5.6 points (52.3 FG%), and 3.7 rebounds.

I think I heard Barry say last night that Wil is out for the season with a shoulder injury. A real shame for a young man who has always played hard. And since he played in 7 games, I think he is just over the threshold for being able to seek a medical hardship waiver.

Cornell is now 3-0 when McBride starts. Running that out to the end of the season, perhaps I should book a flight to San Antonio? Seriously, McBride has impressed me. He could be the best defender in the backcourt (admittedly not the highest praise) and is solid, if not exceptional, at everything you want a guard to do (except maybe three point shooting). He's not going to win ROY, but he should contribute for four seasons and has real potential for growth.

How many total games for Cornell? If it is 28 and he played in 7 games he should be fine. Believe it has to be under 30%

19 TO's

Shot 48% on 3's, but Dartmouth shot 28%. If Harvard has to rely on decisively outshooting opponents from long range, that's gonna be a problem.

On the other hand, overcame no Aiken and 15-0 Dartmouth run. 14 days to play Wofford and figure it out before rematch in Hanover. Gotta figure out how they got up 37-23 and capture it.

I thought the magic number was 20%, but I could be wrong. If Wil could get an extra season, I wouldn't blame him if he had somebody pay for his first year of grad school.

Cornell (6-7) 93 vs
Central Penn (7-9) 69

Recap: http://www.cornellbigred.com/news/2018/1/5/mens-ba ...

Box Score: http://www.cornellbigred.com/boxscore.aspx?path=mb...

mountainred was correct in noting that Bathurst is out for the season. McBride returned to the starting lineup. I agree with mountainred that McBride is the team's best perimeter defender and has definite upside at the PG role.

There does not seem to be any timetable on Troy Whiteside's return.

Five straight 75-plus points for the Big Red. Morgan "only" had 21 points, since he played a season-low 28 minutes. His average dropped to 24.9 ppg and moves him to #4 nationally.

Gettings had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 0 turnovers in 25 minutes of play. Jack Gordon scored 15 points, going 5-5 from three.

While Cornell did allow Central Penn to get 41 second half points, 15 were from the FT line. From the field, they were held to 2-11 from three and 10-26 from two.

While these non-Division 1 games have limited appeal, a role player can hopefully take advantage of the extra court time. Last year, Jack Gordon put up 11 points, including 3 of 4 three pointers and used the game as a springboard for much more playing time in conference games.

Next up for Cornell - Friday at Penn and Saturday at Princeton.

I would love to see him, but at this point I would be tempted to save a season of eligibility if I were Troy. If not at Cornell, then perhaps getting some school to pay for one year of grad school.

I'm not sure anybody had a Jack Gordon-esque game against Cent. Penn. Knapp and Boeheim had decent shooting days, but both are part of the rotation anyway. Jake Kuhn unfortunately probably undid any good from his sharp shooting in the closing minutes of the Auburn loss.
