Come back to us in 10 years when the grass is far from greener. You can say a lot of things about Fran, but "pretty terrible recruiter" is not one of them.
I mean, it's a fact. I'm not sure how you could dispute that. He told me himself that it's difficult to recruit bigs because if they're any good, they're playing at Syracuse, which is a loser mentality.
He's never landed a Rivals 4* recruit. His highest ranked recruit was Shizz Alston at #111, which is unacceptable.
He has lost recruits to:
Penn
St. Joe's
La Salle
George Mason
Saint Louis
UMass
Rhode Island
Duquesne
GW
USF
UCF
VCU
Houston
Fresno State
Middle Tennessee State
Nebraska
DePaul
Rice
St. John's
Seton Hall
Penn State
Tulane
South Carolina
UNC Charlotte
Santa Clara
Not exactly a list of heavy hitters in college basketball.
Since 2010, he has landed exactly 1 PF/C from E PA/NJ, and he's one of the worst bigs we've ever had.
All of this could be mitigated if he didn't insist on hiring his good friends as assistants considering they're almost all terrible recruiters too.

I will say that our Temple friend does seem to reflect the opinion I get from friends who are Temple alums, which is why I opined earlier that I think Dunph will "retire" after this season if he does not make the Tournament.

Our big issue with Fran was always in-game coaching. From what I've seen, Fran has had some talent at Temple (Lavoy, Christmas, Obi) and it's not like Chaney was exactly putting out NBA players his last decade. I do think there's a lot to the idea that time has passed Fran by and I have no doubt that you can do better. Where we disagree is the idea that Temple should be a perennial tourney team and that Fran has had no success. Outside of losing in the tourney (good luck finding sympathy from us Penn fans on that front), he had some pretty good seasons with Temple.

By the way, didn't academic standards also rise and Fran can no longer take a lot of the talent that Chaney could?

My opinion is shared by two message boards of Temple fans. Feel free to look for yourself. There's a very short list of Temple fans still defending Dunphy.
He has had talent. He does a good job of developing talent, or at least had until the last couple years. Now imagine what he could do if he had assistants who could recruit instead of Dave Duke.
Never said he hasn't had success. He's just failed miserably in the NCAA Tournament. John Giannini, who is a terrible coach has made the Sweet Sixteen. It's unfathomable to not reach the Sweet Sixteen once in 12 years with Temple's resources. 21 wins and a first round Tournament loss isn't good enough.
You are right about coaching. Very rarely does he make in-game adjustments. He's also very stubborn about lineups and upper classmen. It's pretty obvious to us that our best lineup is a small lineup with at least two of our freshmen Obi starting at the 5 instead of the 4, but he's trotted out the same losing lineup every game with the exception of when Q Rose was benched for being late to practice or film study whatever it was.
Fran hasn't been able to take non-qualifiers since maybe his first or second year here. The AAC does not allow it. That's not a good excuse for him not landing a single 4* recruit in 12 years.

The inability to win in the tournament is an enormous black mark on Fran's record, and it's much worse with a program like Temple than it was at Penn. We were just grateful to dance.

Speak for yourself. The Allen/Malloney team should have done better in the tournament. I was not just grateful to dance.

We're currently putting forth one of the worst efforts in the history of college basketball. Our players don't give a crap and have all tuned Dunphy out. No one cares.

Temple? Sounds like a school for Hasidics. What's the mascot?
It could be a school for Buddhist or Hindus. You need to start thinking more globally in 21st century America.

May I suggest poaching Harvard this go around? It may turn out better for Temple.

Ash Howard from Nova is likely our top target if the administration doesn't settle with Aaron McKie.
