With Harvard Round One now in the books it will be interesting to see how a Big Green team that lost its top scorer and rebounder to impending transfer fares against a Vermont team now missing Anthony Lamb , its injured top scorer and rebounder. While the game is in Hanover it often resembles a Vermont home game with green and gold followers crossing the river and flooding the gym with its Go Cats Go chant.

The loss of Lamb is huge. It negates the loss of Evan. I watch UVM alot because they're in the America East and I was at Stony Brook for many years. They're frustrating to watch as they play fundamentally sound ball. Dartmouth has to hit their 3's.
Go Big Green!

Dartmouth hit their 3's, 55% but still lost. A few times we were within single digits but Vermont hit some key shots. Very frustrating. Hope Stony Brook beats them this Sat.

Fans get an F-. What's up with the lack of enthusiasm?

On the positive side, the freshman look good.

Well, about 90% of the crowd was rooting for Vermont. What should the Dartmouth crowd be rooting for? Poor senior leadership? (Miles Wright, our senior captain, 4 TO's, 9 pts offensive no show, critical missteps at key times, no defense). 10 turnovers by halftime? The fact that we were within 6 points? Our poor coaching? 55% three point shooting in a loss? There's that word again. Loss. Lose. Tough to get a crowd into a game where the coaches don't coach and the players make grade school mistakes (Johnson running through a pic intentionally at a critical point in the game. He's AVERAGING just under three turnovers a game...). Poor preparation (McLAUGHlin) leads to poor performance. How many illegal screens has Rai set this year? How many times has Emery walked with the ball? How many times have opposing point guards DESTROYED our guards by driving to the hoop for uncontested baskets? Vermont's guards got to the basket any time they wanted to tonight. Can't McLAUGHlin teach the team to stop doing those things?? Not so far..Work hard, work smart, work together. hmmmm...That's not happening and people generally don't support losing. Remember, one of our FOUR wins was a terrible D3 school.....Go...Big....Green...

I agree that there were some terrible plays by Dartmouth and there were some plays were the UVM guards just walked right in for a layup.
But we were within single digits a few times and the crowd was silent. Noise makes a difference.

UVM point guard was 10-for-10 from the field (and 6-for-6 from the line). When neither team plays much defense the more talented team is going to win and that's what happened. Probably the best crowd of the year and while it may be true that half of it was for UVM even they were relatively quiet because the Catamounts didn't play particularly well, either. Nice to see Cameron Smith get some run in for the Green.
