Games at the Naval Academy always seem to be a battle. I went to last year's game, and it did not look good for the Bison most of the game. I'm hoping that with Mackenzie and Toomer back, this will not be a close game.
New season, new team, new dream . . .

Conference road games are rarely blowout affairs, especially against the top half of the conference. Expect a battle.

I hope it's not a close game - with the Bison on top of course - but I expect it will be. Over the last four years, the Bison have three wins there. In all of them, the Bison lead was one or two points in the final 10 seconds. And in the fourth game (2014), the Bison lost by a point, missing two shots in the final seconds.

Dominating performance thus far. The team we all thought it could be.

One of these days we are going to get this slow first half thing ironed out. OH, never mind.

Making shots definitely helps any woes. Looking very good but I’m not going to expect Stephen to hit 5-6 three pointers every half.

Stephen is a legitimate POY candidate or at least first team all-PL candidate

Nice effort, nice win in a venue where we usually struggle to eke out a victory. Sunday is going to be yuuuge for the Bison.

Yes, hitting shots helps a lot. Brown 7-9 on threes. AVi 2-3 on threes. Zach 16 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists. Also had only 10 turnovers. Bison were outrebounded by one - but Navy leads the PL in both offensive and defensive rebounding in league games.

Except for a brief lapse midway through the 2nd half, the defense looked good.

Navy seemed to make their way inside for some easy lay-ups more often than not. It could hurt us down the road.

As we hit the halfway mark in the PL schedule, the Bison continue to lead the league in defense by a wide margin. They are giving up .893 points per possession. Boston U is second - yielding .983 ppp. That is a huge gap - bigger in fact than the gap between 2nd and 9th. The return of Mackenzie and Toomer have definitely helped the defense.

The last time the Bison had a better defense statistically in PL play was in 2006, when they gave up an amazingly low .806 points per possession.

Avi’s offensive game is much more confident than his freshman campaign. He’s like a new kid and has answered a previous post of mine where I had conjectured that his stroke and range appeared much improved before he got hurt. Seems like that observation might have been correct. He looked super against HC and again last night. Don’t understand how JS went from never overextending his penetration resulting in TO’s or wild driving FGA’s in hopes of drawing fouls to a totally antithetical position of consistently overextending and leaving his feet as well. More perplexing is how such a solid shooter with a good stroke had identical spot up open corner 3’s without a defender within 6 feet of him managed to replicate going a foot over the rim in successive games. It seems coming off the bench has affected him and he’s pressing a bit. From my prior post he’s everything you want in a PG and his strength was letting the game come to him and taking advantage of the angles as presented. He’s lost his feel a little. His D has been solid however and when you concentrate defensively the offense in my experience follows. He’ll get his feel back in his new role because he’s a heady kid. Let’s make sure everyone on the board stays with him and supports. Had beautiful eurostep drive in HC game
