Sestina tries to so too much sometimes. He needs to box out strong, guard the rim, and clean up the garbage. He has the skills to do very well if he keeps it simple.

He’s a big strong guy and he does some nice things. I think your analysis is correct. Sometimes you can still see the products of playing small time HS ball I think.

This team looks amazing today. I mean, Boston U. is the second best team in the league, at home, and has actually played really well. Bucknell is just running away from them.

I’m on the bandwagon for Stephen Brown first team PL. I think he’s an outstanding player who has grown enormously since his freshman year. Frankly all three of our seniors are first team players and I’m not sure how any of them could be left off the team statistically or otherwise.
Husky, Brown is on fire!
Cannot be more impressed by Brown. He has put this team on his back and delivering. He's doing everything.
For PL play only, he is the MVP IMO. Zach carried the team before conference play. But now it's Brown's team. What you want from a point guard.
You gotta love how he immediately set Nana up after sitting big minutes.
Nana in foul trouble was kind of a blessing...pushed tempo and Boston wasn't prepared for it.
A great beat down today.
Breathing room , but now keep it going in February. Will be in Lewisburg for the Lafayette game.

This team is rolling like we thought they would at the beginning of the season. After some struggles that we all were nervous about you can detect that they’ve regained their swagger. By the way how good does Avi look? He keeps this offensive effort up he really could be a star.

crd, he looks REALLY good. I was concerned about next season, but now that Toomer and Mackenzie are back, my worries are gone
As for this season, I would like to see the momentum continue to build and peak going into the PL playoffs.

Watching today I was also thinking about next year. We are going to lose 3 monsters, and we’all still be tough to beat in PL.

Sotos, Mackenzie, Toomer, Moore & Sestina are already a formidable lineup. They'll be even better by next year.

Also I love when Doug has the assistant coaches on the post game show. I think the world of Nate, but he sounds like a recording with his stock answers.

Avi has made huge strides but let's remember he was a scorer in HS. We were delighted he played defense so well last year as I recall. Our backcourt will be outstanding next year.
I'm more focused on this year though and the Bucknell team that played today would have beaten NC and Maryland when we played them along with every other game save Arkansas.
Friends we need to finish this recruiting class. I'm hugely concerned.

I was able to unsubscribe easily and the telecast was perfect. I thought about keeping it but I don’t watch enough television to justify anything beyond Netflix and Amazon Prime.

I am debating whether to keep it to watch next Monday's game @ Lehigh along with the other PL games. Probably not worth the 20 bucks though. Too bad it wasn't a 10 day free trial.

Is there any way Stephen Brown is NOT PL player of the week? I was listening to the Boston U pregame audio feed and Joe Jones said that Brown is the best point guard in the league. He was very complimentary of our entire team. The Boston announcers BTW are also the best in the league.

Boston U. Game 01-28-18 08:18 PM - Post#245032

Is there any way Stephen Brown is NOT PL player of the week? I was listening to the Boston U pregame audio feed and Joe Jones said that Brown is the best point guard in the league.
He should be POW, but there may be one competitor: Andre Walker, who had 52 points in two close wins over Army and Lehigh this week. He also combined for 18 rebounds and 6 steals. Only 3 combined assists, however, as he has moved largely off the ball, with Hart acting as PG. On twos, he shot 14-32 and he hit 5-14 on threes. Very average shooting - but a LOT of shots.
In the same categories, Stephen has 48 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals (and NO turnovers). The biggest difference is that Stephen hit 7-11 on twos and 10-16 on threes. So he took 27 shots, compared to Walker's 46 shots and scored only 4 points less. Also note that Brown only played 57 minutes, due to the big score differentials, while Walker played 77 minutes.
So there really is no comparison - but the PL voters are sometimes clueless and look at volume stats with no context. Hopefully not this time.
BTW, Pomeroy's ORating, which combines all the stats, gives Walker's two games a 106 and 107 rating - which is pretty good but not great. Brown, in contrast, has a 169 and a 180 - which is about as good as I've seen for two games.

Brown has been incredible all year, but this was as good of a performance as I have seen. He should be first team all league for sure, and I think he is entering the player of the year conversation.
We are starting to see the team we thought we had. If they string it together for 3 games in March to get to the Dance, they could do something special...
But, a lot of season left...

There were two stats that on their face are a bit troubling:
- Boston got a very high 17 of a possible 40 offensive rebounds (47%). In contrast, the Bison in PL games were giving up about 24% in prior PL games. The norm for all teams nationally is 29%. However there are a few mitigating factors: (1) Nana only played 15 minutes; (2) In the final 3:30, when the Bison had cleared the bench but Boston still had mostly rotation player in the game, Boston got 5 of a possible 7 offensive rebounds. Take out the garbage time, and they got 36.4% of the available offensive rebounds - still good but not dominant.
- The Bison gave up 79 points on 71 possessions (1.11 points per possession) - far worse than the .89 ppp they were yielding to PL teams prior to the game. This was largely due to the offensive rebounds plus Boston hitting 6-12 on threes. However when you take out the ending 3:30, when Boston scored 14 points on 8 possessions, the stat for the rest of the game is 65 points on 63 possessions, a more reasonable 1.03 points per possession.
