Cornell came back from being down 5 with a minute to go thanks to Matt Morgan and Joel Davis. Morgan hit 2 threes in a 30 second span, while Davis stole a strange pass near the baseline by Taylor Johnson. After being fouled Davis hit both free throws to take the one point lead. Taylor missed a shot with 4 seconds left to give the Big Red its 2nd straight one point win.

On offense, Cornell got lots of points from Morgan (28) Gettings (20) and Davis (16) and went 25-29 from the line.

Defensively, the Big Red allowed the Big Green to shoot 56% overall, 65% from two and 35% from three. They also were sent to the line 27 times (making 19). Also, five Dartmouth players scored in double figures.

When interviewed by Barry Leonard immediately after the game, Coach Earl was rather upset at the defensive effort.

A close game throughout saw Cornell ahead 66-62 with just under 5 minutes to go. Unfortunately for the Big Red, Harvard went 2-2 from three and 8-8 from the FT line, while the Cornell went 0-2 from three and 1-4 from the line.

Gettings had a monster game with 32 points and 10 rebounds, but he missed the and-one down 72-71 with 30 seconds left that sealed the team's fate for the night. Morgan had a quiet 16 points and no other player had double figure.

As a team, Cornell shot 53% from two, 36% (9-25) from three and 56% (10-18) from the line. They had a 7% rebounding advantage and limited Harvard to only 4 offensive rebounds. Harvard shot 47% from two, but 48% from three (11-23). They also went 15-16 from the line.

Despite the loss, Coach Earl seemed more pleased with the team's play on Saturday.

- “I was actually more proud of our guys following the loss to Harvard than after the win over Dartmouth, because we showed a high level of effort,” Earl said. “If you think about us trying to build a competitive program, I think that this actually might be a step forward.”
