Love that we're finding different ways to win. Today was all Lewis. And a pretty low turnover game too!

Next time Penn will be a lot fresher. They'll have 6 days between games. 5 games in 9 days, including a very short road turnaround today, is a tough haul.

Congrats to the Crimson. Defense was as advertised and Lewis had a monster game. Looking forward to the rematch in a couple weeks in Philadelphia.

Harvard played well, but Penn had no legs. Give me those wide open 3s that Penn was missing in another game and it's a completely different result. Looking forward to the rematch.

Penn was 6-for-16 from three aside from Caleb Wood's 0-for-8. Caleb only played 23 mins in the Tuesday and Saturday game. Betley went 4-for-10 but hit three of those four in the final 10 mins on the most tired legs he would have had all weekend and missed both of his first half attempts when he was more fresh.

Penn did miss a ton of open looks (and oddly seemed to hit some of the tougher looks it got). I suspect that was more of a random poor performance than legs.

Frankly, the bigger issue with 5 games in 9 days isn't legs, but the extra game prep that's thrown in there. Big disadvantage not to get to prep for your weekend games until Wednesday, especially for a strong basketball mind like StevieD. If anything, that's more of a reason why I'd expect the rematch to be different (aside from the HCA flip).

Even leaving aside the Tuesday game, that is a ridiculously tough trip to drive up to Hanover to play a Friday night game and get down to Cambridge at 4 the next day. And tired legs don't mean you necessary keep missing---my guess is that Betley adjusted and simply zoned in despite the legs. But whatever it was, Penn missed shots that its better shooters usually hit. Plus there seemed to be a freeway down the lane. Too many misses when Penn was inside the defense. That being said, Harvard played very well on offense and took advantage of mismatches.

5 games in 8 days for the Quakers with the most difficult one being the last. Max didn't play most of the second half due to hydration, etc. You can't play against Chris Lewis at less than 100%.

I agree with MJ that game prep is a big deal and I think fatigue was a factor also. Either way, I didn't expect Penn to win at Harvard and I expect them to be much more prepared at the Palestra.

The massive FT disparity didn't help either.

Many positives from this weekend:

- Perhaps the most impressive thing about this weekend is that different players stepped up. On Friday, Juzang had his best game ever, scoring 20 points on only 10 shots. On Saturday, Chris Lewis scored 25 points on only 14 shots. Coaches obviously recognized the mismatches and rode them.

- Friday: to beat a good Princeton team by 15 without Aiken and with Lewis (15 min) and Towns (24 min) in foul trouble the entire game is remarkable. To underscore, Lewis picked up his 4th foul with 16:42 remaining and Towns picked up his 4th foul with 15:47 left. After long bench stints, both fouled out.

- Harvard shot mediocre from three. 29% vs Princeton and 33% vs Penn. These were the levels that were frustrating during OOC play, and well below Harvard's in conference rate (now 40%+).

- Harvard with Chris Lewis +14 vs Princton in only 15 minutes! Harvard was +10 vs Penn in 31 minutes. Without Chris, Harvard was even on the weekend: +1 vs Princeton and -1 vs Penn. Again, without Bryce and with limited minutes Friday from a foul laden Seth, the performance without Chris was impressive

- The ability of Harvard to hold the fort with Lewis on the bench reflects the continuing development of Welsh, Djuricic and Baker.

- TO's: Mainly due to the maturation of Juzang and help from Bassey, Johnson and Haskett, Harvard had only 15 TO's on the weekend while forcing 26. +5.5 TO/pg is a big deal for this Harvard team.

- Harvard won without Seth needing to take over the offense at any point. Scoring 13 and 17, Seth was about 7 points below his Conference scoring average entering this game

No reason to be anything but pleased at the development of this team. Perhaps most importantly, I noticed the camaraderie and - well - enjoyment level of teammates at a level I haven't observed before in this squad.

Of course, there are negatives, as Betley - after being held scoreless in the first half -
scored 16 thereafter, and in the absence of Lewis Princeton's Aririguzoh was quite a handful down low.

Nevertheless, to pretty much hold leads over the P's for the final 30 minutes of each game, including a lead of 18 over Princeton and 16 over Penn, all without Bryce, is something the squad and coaches should feel very good about.

Well done gentlemen.

From what I saw at the game, the foul disparity was pretty much justified. We simply couldn't cover their inside moves and were committing fouls. Maybe one or two of our missed bunnies might have drawn a whistle, but we played like a tired team and I don't have a real beef with the refs in this one. But we had the shots to win this game.

I have a very different view but, unlike Brown fans, we can agree it wasn't the reason for the outcome

HDG--great post. It was nice to see others score, though when we needed Seth to hit the dagger he did, once again.

Yes, that final Chris Lewis, er, "blind drop pass" to Seth was brilliant!
