At Sloan Sports Conf, so I haven’t had a chance to post the morning numbers, but yeah, Yale and Columbia are the big favorites for the 3 and 4. It’s fascinating who Brown, Cornell and Princeton should root for. Yale and Columbia at 6-6 would both have a tough weekend to bring home another win and now there are two spots to potentially catch. But Yale at 7-5 and Columbia at 5-7 really opens the door for 4th, while Yale is essentially in (tiebreakers excluded).

Wow, V&T's is still there? That was a go to place in law school, c. 1980-'82. All the other places (such as the West End, Third Phase and many others like the great Cuban-Chinese place on 108th and B'Way) are gone.

Good win for CU last night--win tonight and you'll be at the Palestra in 2 weeks

Yes, V&T's is alive and well. I might even have to pick up a little homatash at the Hungarian Pasty Shop for later.

I assume Princeton has to be rooting for Yale. A game out of 4th with 2 to play (this assumes Princeton wins tonight, which is far from certain) seems a lot more reasonable than 2 out and needing to sweep next weekend while somebody else gets swept.

Otherwise, who knows. It’s complicated enough that I think Brown and Cornell both just need to be focused on the fact that good things likely happen if they win out. They don’t control their destiny in a mathematical sense, but they are probably close to it if they get to 7-7.

Do Columbia fans root for Cornell or Brown tonight?

That's right. We want Brown to defeat Cornell tonight (Brown 5-7, Cornell 4-8), on the grounds that Brown will have a harder time next week with Penn/Princeton (KP average 167) than Cornell will with Dartmouth/Harvard (KP average 225).

Probably Cornell. The Brown beats Penn at home and has a better win than Columbia for the second tiebreak possibility is all too real. Whereas you’ve got Cornell blocked on all reasonable tiebreak fronts.

You're right, of course, if we lose tonight and are more likely to end up in a tie. If we win tonight, however, then it's more important that the teams nipping at our heels beat each other up in anticipation of who might have the best chance next weekend.

I remember a Greek joint up near Columbia back when my wife was in grad school there. We went there a lot. Was it called Aesop's table? My new favorite place in that neighborhood is Community. Flattop is also really good.

I remember Aesop's Table. Great name, but I think it closed. My favorite Greek place in the neighborhood is The Symposium on 113th. It's been open forever.

Koronet Pizza is still there, and Tom's of course. Does anyone remember The West End when they still played jazz?
