They swept everyone in their side of the bracket, except for Lafayette, which swept the Raiders.
I think everyone on that side is happy to start off away from Lehigh and Bucknell. That said, as you scan the entire bracket, it's easy to imagine any one of those matchups going either way.

Lehigh is definitely the scariest team right now so having them in our half is less than ideal. That said, the silver lining is that I think Lehigh would travel the largest contingent to Sojka for a final should we make it. I don’t see them traveling as well for a semifinal matchup.
Also, let’s not overlook Boston U. They have shown signs of life for parts of the past two games. I also feel like Lehigh has had first round games played a lot closer than expected in the past, so I could see BU pulling the upset. Either way, Bucknell is in for a tough semifinal game if they escape Thursday.

Ok! So in the quarters we have to play a team that has already beaten us and in finals we likely play a team that had us beat, until they didn’t and then had us really beaten until a miracle occurred. Assuming we get to the final, we better be ready. Hopefully that will be the case ala LU last year. Not sure if i’d rather LU or Boston. Both have had pretty good luck in Sojka.

Nothing in the tournament is easy. We are the most talented team in the league. We just need to play like it. We could just as easily be 10-6 instead of 16-2. But the guys have found a way to win in some tough situations.

I think you meant semis, which brings up the point that first we have to either beat a team that led us with under five minutes left in the game at their place, or one that led by 19 and took us all the way to overtime on our home court.

As assistant coach Paul Harrison said in his most recent postgame interview, "We have to embrace how difficult winning the tournament will be."
To be clear, he wasn't moderating expectations; he was talking about the team having the proper focus and mindset and fully appreciating and attacking the challenge that lies before them, one possession at a time.

With an 8-game winning streak, Lehigh is the hottest team right now.
But the scariest team in a single elimination tournament is far and away the one we face next, so that's a tie between Army and Loyola.

You are right BRW, I meant the semis. As for my comments about Colgate I leave them as I stated them. The first game was a nice comeback, rather late. The second was nothing short of a miracle, but no OT.

Yes, I was describing the possible quarterfinal foes. Edited for clarity:

A crazy stat I was just thinking about is that it has been nearly a decade since the Bison played a road PLT game. The last road PLT game came in Paulsen’s first year (08-09) when Bucknell lost at Holy Cross as a 7 seed.
Most of this is due to frequently earning the 1 seed, but Bucknell has also flamed out early as the 2 seed or 4 seed at home on a pair of occasions to prevent a subsequent road game.

BUFan, the Bison have had an incredible run over the past 13-14 years. I met up with a buddy of mine from the Class of '88 at the American game over the weekend, and we were talking about the last time that we saw Bucknell vs. American in DC. We figured out that it was winter 2005! Bucknell lost and then, they went on to beat Kansas in the Dance. We were almost rooting for Bucknell to lose on Saturday (not really).
May the fun continue for many years to come, but for now, I am hoping for a nice 3 game run and 1 or 2 more thereafter.

I recall being at that same game. I believe it was a Friday night and Bender was a sea of orange. If my memory is correct, I believe Nathan Davis was coaching the Bison that night, as Flannery went out on his medical leave.

Kenpom.com has posted the likelihood of each PL team winning the PL Tournament. The top 4 are as follows:
1. Bucknell 69.2%
2. Colgate 13.6%
3. Navy 8.9%
4. Lehigh 4.8%
https://t.co/lJm3qvFkXK
Personally, I think that if the Bison win the first 2, I would bet the farm that they will win the 3rd. I am more concerned about the 1st & 2nd rounds.

The Lehigh percentage seems absurdly low. I’m guessing KenPom doesn’t give more weight to recent performance?

How about glass half full, either a team we just beat by 41 or a team we led from start to finish on the road to beat them by 17 at their place. While anyone can win any given game, I like our odds as a fan. (Players probably ought to look at it your way.)
