About the only thing that came as a surprise to me was Shawn Anderson making it ahead of Kahron Ross.

"The trio of Bison marks the most players from a single team to be selected to the first team in League history."

I wasn't a fan when he arrived, and he did some things during his tenure that also bothered me. That being said, Dave Paulsen was a great hire and a great coach for Bucknell. He must be included as part of today's news.

Dr, I was not a huge Paulsen fan for various reasons, but he could definitely recruit. IMO, this should not be about Paulsen; it should be about the players.

CONGRATULATIONS to Thomas, Foulland, and Brown for making us proud. You have worked VERY hard, and it has paid off. You are not done yet!

BTW, I thought that Jehyve Floyd might sneak onto the 2nd team, but I find it hard to justify bumping anybody off of the 2nd team. So, I guess that I am fine with him being on the 3rd team.

GO BISON!!!

Agreed...talk about handing over to your successor a program that's in top shape. He and his sharp assistants were excellent stewards of the program.

In turn, it must be said that Hardt's hiring of Paulsen and Davis were signature accomplishments in his Bucknell career.

Somehow, I missed that both Foulland and Brown are on the All Defensive Team. That is a HUGE accomplishment in that they are both 1st Team All League and 1st Team All Defense. Amazing!

Awesome...congratulations to three worthy players. We’ve been fortunate to be able to watch the careers of these players, so glad they played for Bucknell!

I get there is so much more to look forward to yet this year, and I will enjoy it (hopefully 4-6 more games) but anyone who thinks this team will barely skip a beat next year is slightly delusional in my opinion. That’s not so much a knock on players coming back, but praise for this group of seniors. This core group has carried the team for three years. You just don’t replace that in any way. Just my opinion.

question? esp, for 137, what am I missing on Jehyue Floyd, Def. Player of year, All Def Team,
11.8 ppg, 63 blks, 5.7 reb. sub .500 FT,, and 3rd team Patriot League,, it seems he would have finished at least 2nd team. I understand he is a Freshman, but I would have thought Def POY, would have moved him up in overall player rankings. I know he should be a handful over next few seasons.

Coach Davis gets my vote for COY - not that my vote matters.

Note that Floyd is a junior, not a freshman. He just never did much his first two years and averaged only about 10 mpg. In fact this year he did not play terribly well until HC's last 10 games. If you evaluate him based strictly on the last 10 games then he should be at least second team. However if evaluated on the full season, he is no better than 3rd team. For the first 19 games of the year, he averaged 10.5 ppg and 5.5 ppg. Much better the last 10.

I posted about him in the recruiting thread, but will mention it here as well...Dane Fischer was Dave Paulsen’s secret weapon as far as recruiting.

No argument here. I mean he just set the league record for wins and he is NOT coy. I realize that the prior two coys worked against him, and in those years Bucknell was not picked for first while we were this year. So while he exceeded expectations in the last two years, he could not this time. Still, 16 wins...

I have no trouble at all with Langel getting the award. Bucknell performed about as expected with three first team All-PL players. The only reason I would even consider ND is because of McKenzie and Toomer having missed significant parts of the year. Langel coached Colgate to second-place, despite some injury issues, which is better than almost anyone expected.

For some perspective, you have to go back to the days of Adonal Foyle to find a Colgate team with a better league record. And only once since then has a Colgate team had an identical record.

Funny...until reading something earlier today, I thought he was a freshman or sophomore and was quite happy to find he's already a junior.

I understand the logic in Langel getting the award - just don't agree - 16 wins vs. 12. And how does a coach not tell his team not to foul (particularly a flagrant foul) with an 8 point lead and 30 seconds to play.

But the bison played at least this badly in the final seconds of the overtime game at Lafayette, when they twice failed to commit a foul in the final seconds when leading by three points, instead giving Petrie a clean look at the basket that resulted in the game tying three point shot. In both cases, I'd rather judge both coaches on their body of work for the whole year. And I simply thought Langel's team played a bit further above reasonable expectations then did the bison.

I would agree that Langel’s Colgate team absolutely exceeded expectations and had a very good year despite some injuries of their own. Bucknell was a unanimous pick to win the league and has a legendary senior class...still you have to respect ND for fulfilling that prediction along with 16 wins. That said, in a close finish, I would take Langel.
