I know it's probably a day early to start talking about Friday's Penn/Yale game, but I'm already fired up. It's too early for Vegas to provide a line for this game. Y'all are pretty damn good at predicting what the spread will be... Guesses?

That is a very tough place to play. The game means a lot more to Penn than Yale, but ....it's a tough place to play (we did shockingly destroy them up there last year).

I wanted to disagree and say that the game means more to Yale, but it really is almost utterly meaningless for the Eli. It's not that big of a game for Penn either. It's big, like any other game, but that's about it, unless you are into the NIT.

I would much rather play the 4th place team in the Tournament and have Harvard battered by Yale. Neither Columbia nor Cornell is very physical

I can tell you the coaches and players are treating this like a title game. They know they have to win to get a 1 seed, hang a banner, and guarantee quality post season hoops. Steve Donahue has said as as much publicly

It's a very small gym with the seats (old fashioned wooden chairbacks like you would see in a 1930s Yale classroom) virtually overlooking the court with 2 balconies. Gets very loud and when Yale is on a run, deafening.

Thanks... Never been.

I guess the strategy is to never allow Yale to go on a run and keep the place nice and quiet. Three-pointers raining down on them from Ryan & Caleb mixing in quite a few bunnies from AJ should do it.

I'd be interested in a little more in-depth strategy from anyone who knows anything about the current Yale team...

Yale plays two bigs. Paul Atkinson has been a beast, albeit a bit inconsistent, but hammered us at the Palestra with 20pts 13 Rebs. We won largely because Yale shot 1-19 from the arc (of course we shot 22%) and Jake Silpe hit 2 of our 5 3's. We outrebounded Yale 44-35 with Max and AJ collecting a combined 17 rebs.

I suspect we will play 2 bigs a lot and Yale will shoot much better at home. Yale is undefeated in Ivy play when Miye Oni scores more than 10 pts. He had 6 in the first matchup.

In addition to P38's comments (which I agree with), there used to be very poor lighting - while that has been improved, the lighting there is still weird.

It’s an extremely odd facility, even by Ivy standards.

Yale is listed as a 1 point favorite (Vegasinsider.com)

Want to see a true open before opining (I've seen these early mover offshore sites be a couple points off the ultimate "true" open).

Yale -1 would be a bit of a surprise, though.

It's because Yale is very tough at home. But we match up very well against them since they don't shoot well from outside. I would think that on a neutral court we would be a 5-6 point favorite, so I too would be surprised if they are a 1 point home fave.

This is another example of volatile Friday Ivy lines. The open of Yale -1 is surprising since the usual calculus (Pomeroy difference with a 2-4 point home adjustment) would indicate Yale +1. I fully expect the line will swing at least that far and end up very close to Colin's prediction of Yale +1.5. I will not bet Penn games, but if Penn opens +1 or better yet +110 on the money line, I'll tell everyone I know to jump on it, because that will not last.

I have learned this team will go into this game with the killer instinct. Yes. PW is a hard place to play, but so is Jadwin, and they were ok there.

This is the first year in some time where they matchup well with Yale in the frontcourt. I also think this will be another opportunity for Goodman to be very effective. Penn will get lots of inside opportunities unless Yale really collapses the D.
