Right now almost everywhere you look we are a 14 seed. There are 8 conference tourneys still going on that could help us move up. Here is a rooting guide to your weekend of madness. I for one would love a 13 seed.

Results that could help Bucknell's seed:

America East - UMBC over Vermont
A10 - Anyone but top 3 (URI, St. Bonnie, Davidson)
Big Sky - Anyone but Montana
CUSA - Anyone but top 3 (MTSU, ODU, WKent)
MAC - Anyone but Buffalo
Mountain West - Anyone but Nevada or Boise St
Sun Belt - Anyone but Louisiana Laf
WAC - Anyone but New Mexico St.

Of course this does not include a real wild card winning a big 5 conference tournament.
Ray Bucknell!

Interestingly if you go by Pomeroy rankings today, the 3 seeds would be Michigan, Texas Tech, Auburn, and guess who? The Jayhawks of Kansas. Next down the list would be last year’s opponent, WVU.

Everyone here gets an A++ for abstaining from NCAA bracket talk until the championship was secure. Way to stay focused, baby!!

Looking back, a victory over Maryland and one other OOC game would’ve been enough to get a 13 seed, I believe. But living in the present, I don’t want to see WVU again or any team with athletic bigs.

Does the selection committee try to avoid repeating match ups two years in a row?

Yes, I think so. As well as in season competition, so we would not get UNC should they drop to a #3 seed.

"If possible, rematches from the previous two tournaments should be avoided in the first round."

CBS says we're the top 14 seed at the moment. Click on "See Seeds 5 - 16" down below the bracket.

Thanks, Atlanta, for the guidance on who to root for in the conference tournaments. Let’s go, underdogs!

Regardless of where we wind up seeding-wise, I think the likelihood of us getting to play in Pittsburgh where we would have a really strong fan turnout is pretty low.

They slot the pods by proximity of the highest seed. Nova will get one of the Pittsburgh slots with the other probably going to Cincinnati on the 2 line. If they have a poor showing in the AAC tournament, they could conceivably drop to the 3 line. If that happens, I expect that we would play them in Pittsburgh.

Outside of that, we're probably looking at exotic locations like Detroit or Wichita.

At 14, we're looking at Dallas, Nashville or Witchita. #13 gets us San Diego or Boise.

Another game with Arizona is a possibility. Could be all that’s right in college basketball vs. all that’s wrong

As a guy living in Jacksonville, I think the SEC is overrated and would welcome a game against what I believe to be an overrated club. So a nightmare scenario for us as a 15 against them would frankly delight me.

That's a good start. Now need Western Kentucky and ODU to lose. One of them will lose in the semi later today since they play each other. Then need the other to lose in the final, likely to Marshall. Marshall would likely get a worse seed than the Bison but not certainly. Their semi opponent, Southern Mississippi, would get a very low seed should they win - but that is not likely.

Lunardi still has Middle Tennessee State in his last 4 in so this could actually end up hurting Bucknell if they get in and either ODU or Western Kentucky also get in.

No, we are already in so it helps us to add teams to the tournament that are lower seed potential than us. MTSU getting an at large just bumps another power conference team from that at large. The number of at larges does not change.

Looking around at potential 3s and 4s, I’d specifically like to avoid Texas Tech. Athletic, experienced (several key seniors) including Keenan Evans, who looks like he is going to make a big impression in the tourney.

If that is who we want to avoid, no doubt that is who we will play, (lol for now).
