Zach needs 11 points to average 20 (700 total) for the season. Obviously, everyone needs to play well, but I hope he has a good game and gets there easily.
So he needs 31 over the next two games? Let's go Bucknell!

Stephen Brown is going to be the key to this game I think. Michigan State's point guard is slow by the admittance of the Michigan State fans. So if Stephen can drive and kick and cause havoc with Michigan State's defense it gives us a real shot.
Michigan State has a lot of bulk and depth in the front line, so it will be tough sledding for Nana I think. Jackson, the guy who will be covering Thomas and likely lottery pick, is extremely long and athletic. While I'm confident that Zach will be able to put up decent numbers we need Stephen to be the catalyst. He plays well and the likes of Kimbal and Avi shoot well from three we have a shot. Drive and kick is key to me.

What is after the drive and kick? We’ve got to make shots. I know it is simplistic but if we make our fair share of shots, we will be in this game.

A few things I'm thinking about:
1) The crowd is going to be a big deal. This will be the largest, most energized, partisan crowd (NC notwithstanding) this group will have played under. There won't be any "impartial crowd rooting for the upset" action going on here. I don't dislike the opponent as much as the location/opponent combo. This aspect is going to be tough.
2) The vets on this team don't have a signature win yet. The mid 00s crew had several - Pitt, Syracuse, Kansas, Arkansas. This is a team that wants to be remembered at that level. This would be perhaps the program's most impressive win. I have to think that means something to this group.
3) If they pull it off, in prime time on Friday night, the program could ascend to another level in national awareness and recruiting. Bucknell already has that "these guys are serious" buzz amongst college basketball fans. Achieving that was hard-earned. This is a chance for the program to take another big step forward, as much of a step forward as pre-Kansas to post-Kansas was I'd say.
Come on, Friday, get here already.

Cuse won last night. They’ll bring a good number of orange clad fans who will root for us. Sounds like any Purdue fans hanging around for the night session aren’t too fond of MSU either.
A partisan crowd in a huge arena is less intimidating than in the small gyms Bucknell is used to. I don’t think the crowd will phase them.

Purdue fans won’t be sticking around unless they buy two sessions. One session alone runs about $200 a ticket, so buying a second session just to root against michigan state doesn’t seem likely. This is a home game for Michigan state. Luckily we’re used to this.

So after watching the MSU players press conference, the “sneak up on them†factor does not really seem to be a possibility. We are just going to have to be the better team for 40 minutes. On any given day...

Other than Syracuse hoping to avoid the #3 seed, I'm not aware of any bad blood between Syracuse and MSU. MSU beat Syracuse in the Sweet 16 on our way to the National Championship back in 2000 (also in Detroit), but we've only played each other a couple of times since then.
Purdue on the other hand...we don't like each other so much. For a program who has never achieved anything of consequence in the tournament, Purdue fans spout off like they are one of the big boys. They are bitter because we've gotten some key players out of Indiana over the years (Branden Dawson, Garry Harris, etc). They can't understand why someone from Indiana wouldn't go to Purdue. Purdue and Rutgers are neck-and-neck for worst/ugliest campus in the Big Ten.

Buffalo destroyed Arizona last night. I doubt that any team will overlook a lesser ranked team today.
