Michigan State game 03-16-18 01:30 PM - Post#253411

I have been following Bucknell closely for the past few years and thought last year you could beat WVU but that didn't happen but I thought for sure this year you would come back with your top 9 guys and be like an 11 or 12 seed and take someone out. Was disappointed in the regular season that lead to a 14 seed but thought you had a good shot still to win but then you drew Michigan State which is shaking my confidence. If you had drawn any of the other 3 seeds I think you would have had a much better chance.
All I can hope for is this is Middle Tennessee 2016 all over again that year Michigan State was picked by many to win it all and didn't get through the first game as a #2 seed.
ESPN only gives you an 8% chance to win.

I’ve watched quite a few of the early round games and I have two observations I hope bode well for us tonight.
1) Stephen Brown is as good as any PG I’ve watched.
2) A lot of these high major schools do not play with any consistency or cohesion, they’re simply athletic.
My last comment is that I’ve seen SF Austin, South Dakota State and Davidson doom themselves with stupid fouls late. I hope we avoid this and play under control.
BTW the “power 5†clubs are getting all of the calls so I don’t expect that to change tonight.
GO BISON!

I’d add the take the Bucknell could have hung with (or won against) all of the 3/4 seeds I’ve seen. I know MSU is better than those who have played so far, but we could quite possibly win IF we bring out A+ game (thinking first half vs Maryland, the Navy games, and the past two)

First half MD for 40 minutes should get it done. If not, tip your hat to MSU.

Bucknell has been playing well and are on the upswing to perhaps peaking. Nate Sestina has come around and the three seniors two of which have been players of the year are ready to play not to mention the great play of Stephen Brown. Kimbal always steps up so we have a chance. Jimmy Sotos is key tonight. Good Luck Bucknell!

Random: Anybody know a good spot to watch this in Philly? New to the city & don’t know the scene too well yet.

If Jimmy Sotos is key tonight, then we're doomed. I have watch most games this year and I've not been impressed with his play, particularly in tight games. I actually think the key to the game will be our Big Three. We need Nana to control the paint on the offensive end at to stay out of foul trouble. We need Zach to rebound from the Patriot League final and semi-final games- be aggressive, drive to the hope and make a ton of foul shots. We need Brown to do what he's been doing all year- be aggressive, control the temp and beat his man to the hoop. We also need to crash the offensive boards! Good luck to us!

We need the Big 3 to do what they do, and K-MAC to do what he does, and Avi and Nate to step up. Sotos needs to mind the ball when he is out there.

It’s unlike any previous NCAA game feeling. No anxiety/urgency on every possession. I trust these guys.

They are certainly not intimidated at this point...just need more shots to fall from someone other than Zach.

No quit in this team. Need to hang on here without Nana on the floor.

Izzo a bit of a jerk in his halftime interview. Commented not once but twice about Thomas’ banked in 3...not really crediting him with the other 17 points he put up in the half.

Hopefully MSU goes cold in the 2nd. The longer we hang, the more pressure on them.

So far so good for Bucknell. Nana had a great dunk. Michigan state had a great half and we are in the game! Michigan state shot 60 percent and are only up by 4. If they can't do that for this half we have a chance. Nice to see Paul Newman in.

Agreed. They are shooting lights out and if they weren’t we’d be in the lead. Zach Thomas is my hero.
