The reason why we care so much about whether the Palestra was a near sellout this past weekend; and why we were annoyed that the piped in noise prevented playing Penn songs when we wanted to hear them; and why we were so pleased that the Palestra magic and SD's coaching together balanced the unfair recruiting advantages that Harvard has used to assemble a Who's Who of 3-5 star recruits; and why Darnell's three at the end of the half and running by the Penn crowd should be an iconic photo on the wall of the Palestra; and how our newspaper press and social media exposure appear to everyone else ; how the ghosts of the Palestra, which for decades used to be our sixth man, have finally returned after an unfortunate sojourn in the wilderness, and , as we all feel, that Darnell and company willed us to return to our rightful place on top, is that Penn men's basketball and the Palestra are built into our joy of being Quakers for life. It is part of our DNA, and that is why we dominate this Message Board. To hear the roar on Sunday brought the same sort of feeling that you get watching the last 30 minutes of Rudy. Nobody else in the Ivy League can come close to matching that sound. It is a pleasure to be able to think that way after years of agony. Happy times are here again. Go Quakers!

Speaking of which--are we still waiting for an attendance figure for Sunday's game?
Must be the first tourney in history where they don't announce the attendance.
But isn't the one of the points of the Tourney to publicize it and the turnout? It's certainly nothing to be ashamed of--on the contrary.

Pomery says a 14 point loss with an 11% chance of winning. Sounds about right. Extraordinary for a 16 seed. The question for me is can Kansas play D. If they can, forget it. If not, a hot Penn, with AJ getting 25, could be close enough at the end to steal a win.
Boy this beats the hell about waiting until next year!

11% is roughly the chance of rolling a 5 with a pair of dice. For those of you not familiar with dice, this is quite a common occurrence.

If I were a Kansas fan, this would scare the craps out of me.

Pennsive nailed it. I feel that sometimes my passion for this program may be a bit over the top, but I cannot help it and I am not ashamed of it!
Go Quakers!

The worst part about most of that list is that we were in single digits with under 5 minutes to go.

The BC game was the only non-competitive game, but one thing that list shows that is hard to beat a top20 team. We competed with the rest, but could not get over the hump.
I hope Donahue is looking to play a more aggressive OOC schedule next year.

No. I don't think playing a team you have a 90%+ chance of beating, and most likely by double digits, has KU fans very worried. Their message board attests to that. We are gonna get boat raced by their HOF coach and their superior, we have never seen before, athleticism.
It certainly is the most likely outcome, so why even play the game?

The game I really thought we had a very good shot going in was the game against Cal. They had a small pg who had shot miserably from 3 over the course of the season who buried shot after shot against us. I kind of remember BC having that kind of day against us.
Tomorrow? Could be ugly unless all of the Gods are with Penn.

In advance, the closest parallel to this I can recall is the Illinois game at Winston Salem in MJ's senior season. U played well, but wasn't enough and Koko weren't ready to play at that level and MJ and Langel didn't have the athleticism to compete. Illinois never really pulled away, but we never really were in it.
We need to hit our shots...pretty simple to say it, but that's the key. We need a better than usual average against a team that is not a defensive juggernaut.

I think that was the game that Jordan had 3 fouls in about 90 seconds. That was hard to watch.
