Yale women (15-13; 8-6 Ivy) will take on Northeastern (16-14; 11-7 CAA) in the first round of the WBI at 7:00 pm tonight in Boston.

If they win, they will get a second round game against Binghamton, which beat Youngstown State 70-59 last night. Binghamton beat Penn 77-72 on November 15th, but Yale beat them 73-69 in OT on December 2nd without the services of leading scorer Tamara Simpson.

Good luck to the Elis!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that four teams in the postseason is an Ivy record for a gender.

Score one for the Ivy tournament.

Yale women earned their first ever post season win with a 68-58 win at Northeastern.

Berkowitz had 18 points and 6 rebounds
Barahman had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
Andrew had 11 points (3-3 from three).

The Bulldogs will face Binghamton on Sunday or Monday. Location to be determined.

With regards to the earlier comment from Go Green - I am not sure if 4 Ivy postseason bids is a record, but it would certainly seem to be. This is the 2nd straight year where the top 4 women's teams made it to the postseason.

Last year, Penn made it to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Texas A&M. Princeton lost to Villanova in the first round of the WNIT. Harvard beat UNH in the first round of the WNIT, then lost to St. John's in the second round. Brown beat UMBC in the first round of the WBI, before losing at UNC Greensboro in the second round.

With Harvard's loss in the first round of the WNIT on Friday and Penn's second round loss in the WNIT last night, the Yale women are the last Ivy team still playing. They will travel to Binghamton (20-11) tonight for a 7:00 pm game. The game can be seen on ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app.

Given the lack of an update here, I assumed Yale lost.

Nope! They won! Good for them!

Sorry for the delay.

You are correct, Yale beat Binghamton 70-64. They ended the half up 17 mainly on the strength of reserves Alexandra Maund on the inside and Tori Andrew from outside. The defense limited the Bearcats to 24% shooting and zero three pointers. Imani Watkins, Binghamton's all-time leading scorer only had 2 points in the first half.

Binghamton got hot in the second half and upped the pressure on Yale to make a number of runs. They cut the Yale lead to 4 with 20 seconds left, but the Bulldogs held on for the win.

Andrew hit 5 threes for 16 points, while Maund had a career high of 14. Barahman and Simpson each had 11. Watkins scored 21 second half points for Binghamton and 23 for the game. Yale did a really good job from three, holding Binghamton to 3-18.

They are now in the semifinals with a home game against South Alabama on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 pm. Winner will play Nevada or Central Arkansas for the championship.

The men had five in 2014.

I stand duly corrected! That was a hell of a year for Ivy basketball.

The Yale women came back twice against South Alabama to win 76-74 in OT on Saturday night.

They were cold in the first half, hitting only 1 of their first 25 shots. After being down 19 with only a few minutes left in the first half, they closed the half on an 11-2 run to go into the locker room 29-19.

They eventually tied the game at 46 early in the fourth quarter, but South Alabama opened up an 11 point lead with only 2 minutes to go. Yale somehow went on a 13-2 run over the next minutes and a half to tie the game. Yale had a chance for the win, but missed a 3 at the buzzer.

They went down by 3 early in OT, but Alexandra Maund hit 2 buckets to give them their first lead a minute and a half into OT. They again fell behind by 3, but Andrew and Maund hit shots to put them in the lead for good. South Alabama was down 2 with the ball and 10 seconds left, but they could not sink a couple of jumpers.

Berkowitz had 19, Andrew had 18 (5 threes) and Simpson had 12 points and 7 steals. Barahaman's shot was off, she went 3-21 from the field and 0-6 from three, but she was 8-11 from the line and had 12 boards. Maund had 7 points, all in OT.

The Bulldogs have their 18th win of the year and now head down Central Arkansas for the WBI Final on Thursday night at 8 pm eastern.

Yale beat Central Arkansas 54-50 to take the WBI Championship. I believe this is the Ivy's third post-season championship, with the Columbia men winning the CIT in 2016 and the Princeton men winning the NIT in 1975.

http://www.yalebulldogs.com/sports/w-baskbl/2017- 1...

UCA tied the game at 50 with a minute to go. Yale worked the shot clock down and Roxy Barahman took a two pointer from the right side that missed the mark. Jen Berkowitz got the offensive board and was fouled hitting the go-ahead layup with 29 seconds left. She missed the FT and UCA got the ball back.

Yale did a good job on defense, blocking the three point line and the lane, forcing the guard into a costly turnover with 5 seconds left. Berkowitz was fouled on the inbounds and hit both FTs to clinch the win.

The UCA coach was pretty fired up throughout the game and she had some interesting post-game comments:
http://www.thecabin.net/sports/20180329/yale- overt...

- “What sad is seeing a team cut down the nets on your home court,” said Rushing, whose team, as the top seed in the tournament, played its fourth straight game at the Farris Center.

It amounted to UCA’s fifth straight senior night. This one ended with tears of defeat.

“We got outworked,” Rushing said. “We made some substitutions late and played selfish basketball. There was no way we should have lost that basketball game.” -

Berkowitz was named Tournament MVP. She and Tamara Simpson were named to the All-Tournament team.

Congratulations to Yale, which ended the year at 19-13 with its first postseason title and its most wins in one season.
