Although a lot of Penn bettors furious that Sam missed his last shot from distance.
That will give KU bettors the win on a 16 point margin.

Could've been a game down the stretch if we'd hit the FTs.

It was a 4 point game with a little over 11 to play.
Made FTs would have made for a far more interesting conclusion, that's for sure.

Well, too many missed bunnies in the first half, horrible from the line, and Graham killed us. Would have been tough to win today even if the NCAA hadn't screwed us and we had played someone else. Oh, well, beats the heck out of the way the last 10 years ended.

I mean, the team could absolutely have played better, but even with shooting terribly from FT line, we just gave a 1 seed in their back yard a game. We've been out of it for 11 years, so having trouble hanging my head on this one.
Special shout out to the seniors like Foreman, Wood, and Jones - awesome they got to get to the dance and all made an impact.

DF somehow took fewer than 10 shots and we still lost.
I'm not sure how that's possible anymore.

I don't mind if Graham or one of their big guys takes over and they win just because they have more talent, but it's frustrating to have easy opportunities to score and not take advantage. The free throw thing is particularly annoying, because it goes back at least four coaches now (I don't remember what it was like under Schneider), and that's something that's crucial if you want to win games like this. When are they going to solve it?

They won because they have more talent. You don't think the first 15 minutes of the game drove every Kansas fan insane? We played hard, we did some things good, we did some things bad.
It happens. Bask in the moral victory. Think the moral victory is for suckers. But this whole, it was right there thing starts redirecting us to frustrating places. We could have won. REALLY! but it would have taken a perfect game. And people are rarely perfect.

Right.
We were able to hold our own for the beginning of the halves but not the ends. Talent wears down lesser talent over time.
We gave them a game and had our chances. Ultimately we weren't good enough and weren't perfect.

I don't expect them to be 15-15 at the line; I do expect them to be 11-15. I don't expect them to make every bunny; I expect them to make 8 out of every 10. The point about the foul shots is that this is not just a one-game problem; it's been going on for nigh on 25 years, and it doesn't just cost them NCAA games, it costs them Ivy games. When exactly is someone going to address the problem?

Every ball on the rim fell out for us, and in for them. A couple of brutal calls by the refs. But bottom line is that we had almost no chance to win this game.
Great year.

It's been four different coaches and hundreds of players. I don't know what you want. You know when we had a great free throw %? The year Glen Miller got fired. Yes we stunk like feet but god the free throws were glorious.
It seems to me having a ball handling point guard who shoots free throws well helps with this immensely. When we had Rosen, we were better.

Word to Jeff2SF on the moral victory and getting a ball handling PG who shoots free throws.
I wouldn't mind if that PG was also a knockdown shooter of 3s, but FTs are imperative.
Great season, Penn Quakers!

Congratulations on a very good season. No moral victory, but no embarrassing defeat either.
Except for Brodeur looking nervous on a bunch of his inside shots, for the most part this just looked like a typical Penn game. Even Graham's stellar performance for Kansas wasn't that different from Matt Morgan or Bryce Aiken going off. Below-average FT shooting, even for Penn, made the final margin bigger than the flow of the game justified. But most of the possessions on both ends had the Quakers playing within themselves, getting some pretty good looks from three that didn't go down in the second half and Kansas not getting too many easy shots.

That is a pretty good formula for winning hoops games generally. I was surprised by how good shots the Quakers got, but also how many bunnies they missed in the game. It was what worried me about this game - that they would miss shots or turn the ball over based on fear of pressure as much as the actual pressure. That said,, their overall composure and execution was impressive and they showed they can play with very good teams and not look at all lost in the moment.

It was a mediocre performance.
24 years since the last tournament victory.
39 years since the last final 4.
