What is everyones thoughts on next years team? I'm optimistic that we will be competitive. Kimbal and Sestina will be solid, but we will need someone else to step up and be a consistent scorer also.

I'm optimistic too. With another year of experience Jimmy Sotos is going to be a big asset. Remember, Brown didn't really become a consistent contributor until his sophomore year and just got better from there. With Funk backing him up, we should be in good shape. Moore, Toomer, Robertson, Jones, and Meeks are all capable scorers. Sestina could be the breakout player getting 30 minutes a night (assuming he stays out of foul trouble). The big question is who backs him up. Either Newman is going to have to develop quickly or we need a late recruit to fill that role.

Not sure why Davis didn't play Sestina more tonight. He was quoted as saying Sestina could be player of the year next year but kept him on bench much of tonight.

I was confused about that also. 3-4 shooting 1-2 on threes in limited minutes. I personally feel he could have helped more than Nana tonight. He has more range with his shot. Defense wise I don't think anyone on the team was going to stop State inside.

Sestina played almost half the game.

Bison will be picked to finish 3rd or 4th next year, IMO. I think that they have the potential to finish 1st or 2nd.

Would not be surprised if we pick up 1 or 2 late top shelf recruits for next year.

I’m speechless as to how this thread could be started already and why it has been. I suppose I’m in the minority but so be it.

He also led the team in rebounding with 7 in, only 18 min

It would appear that you are not speechless.

While I agree it is early, without this thread, little else to comment on. Hopefully recruiting will become a positive we can focus on.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will be back atop the PL again next year and right back in the big dance for a 3rd straight year.

You’re right so in that vein where was Bruce Moore? Why was he out?

He was on the bench in sweats because he was suspended for violation of team rules.

The answer to the question posed at the top of this thread is, IMO, “yes!â€
But since Moore was brought up, let’s have at it! It is awfully tempting to look at a 4 point loss and come to the conclusion that having one more big on our side could have swung the result. And for sure, I believe not having Bruce hurt us. I mean that game game came down to them having more and bigger bigs than us. So, yeah, maybe lack of Bruce made the difference. But to come to that conclusion you have to believe that the game was really a 4 point game, as opposed to the rather convincing beating that it appeared to be with 4 minutes left in the game (at which point the game could not end soon enough for me).
The whole Moore thing leaves me with a sour taste, as does the whole season if i’m being honest. I love the guys, for how they played and for who they are. They are one of the best teams in our school’s history, but it seems the just never proved that they were in fact the best, hence the disappointment in the season. I’ll have more to say about this team in a few days once I’ve digested what has gone down, but for now i’m not ready to talk about next year.

Yes. I’m in cool down mode too which is why this thread was premature for me. For me! Y’all go ahead and have fun. Let me know when he have more than one freaking recruit signed after two NCAA appearances.
