It is Interesting that the La Salle job is open now, but Dunphy is probably too old to be the next La Salle coach.

Not buying this one till I see it somewhere else. It is not being reported on KYW where they ARE reporting on LaSalle-Giannini.

While it would not surprise me to see Temple and Dunph part ways, this is almost certainly bogus, given it was reported last August attributable to the same site and was fake.

Perhaps the Russian bots have moved on to Big 5 Basketball.

That would be awesome--Pitino in the Liacouras Center. Frankly, most Temple fans I know would welcome that.

Here you go. He will coach one more season and then step down to be replaced by McKie. It sounds like a negotiated exit plan between Dunphy and the school. Glad they gave him the dignity, but don't know if it helps their program to do it this way. They probably wanted to give McKie one more mentored year as an assistant coach and also to let him have a chance at recruiting his own class for the following year.

I agree that it probably does not help Temple's program but give Temple credit for letting long time coaches go out on their own terms. We should note that the deal is not yet done.

The Temple fans I know are not crazy about the choice of McKie--they would have rather gone for a big name coach.

Since I am also a Temple alum, I think that agreeing to hire a coach with no head coaching experience is a big risk though McKie has been an assistant at both the NBA and collegiate levels.

True, but I think their logic is that Dunphy's reign has become a failure and they should go in an entirely new direction, rather than promoting his assistant.

Dunph is a great coach and class guy in my opinion. I think the move to the AAC has really hurt them in terms of their ability to recruit, much as it has hurt UConn.

Does McKie lean more to his NBA experience or try to do Chaney-esque things? Should be interesting.
