The little birdies told me the new AD is of the female persuasion. Thats why it took a little longer. Not the most reliable source but perhaps this is the case.

Please elaborate on how gender would change the timing.

The conversation I had revolved around the interim AD, how he is an Alum and knows the ins and outs of the position and perhaps the person they are looking for is right under their nose. But the search committee wanted to be thorough and include a diverse set of candidates. After some time a woman became the front runner. Thats the story I got.

Email from Bravman
I am excited to share with you the news that we have successfully concluded our search for our next director for athletics & recreation, and it is my pleasure to introduce to you Jermaine Truax.
Jermaine, who currently serves as Loyola University Chicago’s Deputy Director of Athletics, emerged as the leading candidate from a pool of highly qualified individuals during a national search. A former student-athlete himself, Jermaine holds broad administrative experience at a number of institutions, and he has earned the respect and admiration of many within collegiate athletics for his leadership and his commitment to a true student-athlete model. You can read more about him here.

Delay might have had something to do with his responsiblities for Men's Basketball at Loyola Chicago. That must have been a fun run to have been a part of on the inside.

This seems like a good hire, particularly for the hoops program, as Loyola has just navigated a big conference upgrade successfully.
Still, as a football booster, I'm disappointed. There has to be some signal that football is not maintained simply as an obligation of Patriot League membership. An AD hire in Lewisburg is an almost generational event. Are we just moving on?

Looks like he worked with Steve Watson at both Loyola and Bowling Green - Steve is the younger brother of the late John Watson.

Yes, and Truax originally worked for Watson at St. Bonaventure where Steve was the AD. For those who might not remember, John was a member of the Bison hoops team, graduating in 1988. Sadly, John, a professor in St. Bona's business school, died in 2012, a year aftr his father John, who was the Dean of the Bona business school. John, Jr. was also the color commentator on the student-produced internet broadcasts of the basketball team and a fine one, at that.

Daily Item does a One On One interview with Truax
https://www.dailyitem.com/news/one-on-one-with- jer...
worth a watch if you have not yet had the opportunity to meet him or hear him speak
a few things i liked:
- in his stated goal of making Bucknell the premier athletic program in the PL when handed the usual PR line of having won the most President's Cups, he said yes, proud of this, but acknowledged we have been knocked off the top rung in recent years and reclaiming that spot is the goal.
- talked about first level objective being to compete for and win PL championships, but second level is to look beyond that and consider how to become one of the best mid majors nationally in at least some sports.
of course, he will face the challenge of gaining necessary levels of administrative support, but it at least feels good to hear him state objectives at these levels and know that he will define what he believes is required to achieve these goals and push a strategic agenda towards thise ends.
