Kahliel Spear is a 6-7 180 lb SF/PF from Texas - The Colony H.S. north of Dallas. Had offers from Milwaukee, Fresno State, Arkansas State, and Coppin State.

This leaves BU very light at center next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they are still seeking a walk-on big man. Someone like Matt Banas.

Highlight video from his junior year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Die9C88uY8
Looks like he plays taller than his height due to a big wingspan. Not sure how well he uses his left hand.
He made 1st team All District 5A (second largest class) this year.

180 pounds? He’ll need time in the weight room before he can contribute. He looks like a talented guy and welcome!

great to hear we have our third commitment. would rather have a 6-7 guy who goes after it hard on the boards rather than a 7-0 softie. and to be clear, my point being seems we looked at several taller guys, but never made offers to any of them. if we can get one of them as a recruited walk on great, but better to spend the scholy on Khaliel.

I live about 15 minutes away from his school. Good signing-think he will help. For expectations, he has appeared more of a college shooting guard who can play good defense (did a lot of shot blocking). Took a lot of 3's. Has been listed at 6'5"/6'6". My main concern is that he played in an OK league, typically against shorter competition that were not as athletic. With some coaching, could be good Patriot League player but sure not a banger, particularly against top D1 competition.

I am hoping those are old measurements. The team's official roster this year, fwiw, had him at 6-7.

i would be rather surprised if we picked up Funk (combo) and two swing guards as our recruiting class. i am pleased, however, to hear that Spear has done a fair amount of three point shooting as most of his highlight reels consist of dunks and blocked shots. finally a few jumpers/threes in the senior reel.

I really like the D and hustle that he shows around the 3:08 mark. Getting down on the floor for a loose ball is not something that I have seen in many highlight videos.

I was in Lewisburg this weekend for a fraternity event and happened to run into Coach Davis, the coaching staff, players and recruits at dinner. Living as I do in New Mexico, watching these men online and on TV, it was a treat, and a chance to acknowledge them. The recruits looked comfortable in the social mix. I am glad that they committed.
I am looking forward to watching ND further put his stamp on this program.

6-7 & 180? I think Stephen weighs more at 5-11. Kahliel needs to get Shrecked!

Holy Cross' Malcolm Miller was listed at 6-6 175 lbs as a HS senior. Still only weighed 190 lbs as a HC junior. Despite his thin frame, he turned out pretty well. Had a nice season in the G League this year, and made it into 15 games with the Raptors as well. He was a thin athletic forward who developed his offensive game late, but was always a very good shot blocker. If Spear could turn out to be anywhere near as good as Miller, I'd be very happy.

BUFan that’s a good one. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the College of the Holy Cross. They’re rich history in all sports really is an asset to our League. I wish their fans were more appreciative of how fun a balance of athletics and a academics they have.
Side note both of my nephews are now attending college in New York State, selecting RPI and Ithaca respectively. I’d like to visit them and get some added pleasures of checking out some hoops action that way.
Last side not worthy of a post. I watched some Atlantic Sun hoops this year in person. Living in the Jacksonville area, the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University both play here. The level of play is not near that of the PL however the officiating is superior.
