A Penn practice tape from US Tiber Basket Roma's YouTube channel.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmz7roEcq1Ad HTZsN... - It's been up for 2 days, but with only 36 views , the huge, worldwide Penn fanbase must not have been aware of it.

PA has a new QMH update. It states:
"We will be posting a recap of Thursday night's game later today, tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. which is 1:30 in the afternoon Philadelphia time"

GOOD LUCK PENN!!

Men's Basketball Opens Italian Tour With Stunning 82-80 Loss
May 17, 2018
ROME, Italy – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team was up by 14 on U.S. Tiber Roma more than midway through the fourth quarter in its first game during its Italian tour, but were stunned by a 21-2 Tiber run that catapulted the Italian club team to an 82-80 win.

Penn led 75-61 with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, but were unable to stop Tiber's offensive onslaught down the stretch and could not score on offense itself. The combination allowed the Italian hosts to take an 82-77 lead before Antonio Woods capped off a team-high 19-point night with a three-pointer at the buzzer that set the final score.

Tiber's leading scorer was Andrea Valentini, who scored 32 points in the game, while Filippo Bertoldo had 21 and Marco Reali added 10.

Notes
*Penn shot out to an 11-0 lead to start the game and it was 14-1 shortly after that, but Tiber was able to come back and took a 30-29 lead by the midway point of the second quarter.

*Penn shot 10-of-38 on three-pointers, thanks mostly to a late surge when Penn turned a 49-44 deficit into a 75-61 lead. Woods was 4-of-5 beyond the arc on the night, while the rest of the team was 6-of 33.

*Penn had 17 assists but committed 20 turnovers.

*Penn was 18-of-25 at the foul line on Thursday.

*All 14 Penn players who dressed on Thursday played in the game.

*Wood was the only Penn player to score in double figures. Four other players finished with nine points—Jake Silpe, Jakub Mijakowski, Jarrod Simmons and Jelani Williams—while Devon Goodman and AJ Brodeur had eight each.

*Brodeur also had five assists, while Silpe and Williams finished with four each.

*Jackson Donahue led Penn with five rebounds, and then amazingly eight different players had four boards. Overall, Tiber outrebounded the Quakers 47-45.

*Williams was playing for Penn for the first time since arriving on campus; he missed the regular season to injury. He ended up playing nearly 24 minutes.

*The only two not dressing on this trip are sophomore Ryan Betley and freshman Mark Jackson. Jackson is injured, while Betley was prescribed a period of rest after the regular season and this trip happens to fall in that window.

I was looking around and found these:

https://twitter.com/PennBasketball - a short clip.

https://twitter.com/BallNcaa - about 2 minutes
This is the translation of the text:

[Penn’s Italian tour began badly: The Ivy League champions were beaten by Tiber Roma 82-80, which made a great push near the end, from the 14th to the 5th minute from the end.

These highlights from the last quarter.]

This BallNcaa Twitter account I found via the host team's Twitter. Maybe they will follow the rest of the Penn tour?

The clip was also shared to the host team's https://twitter.com/Tiber1967
Maybe they will post something more later on?

No question this was the most important piece of news to come from the game. 24 minutes isn't too shabby.

Had to shake my head at Jackson Donahue's missed three and TO. Woods looked like he's ready to play.

How did he look?

And yes, that was the most important takeaway. By far.

Was looking for video or info on today's match but found nothing. I did find some photos and a score sheet from the Rome match on the tour organizer's Facebook.

Just saw a tweet that we won big - 90 something to 50 something. Devon led with 24.

Believe this was a B league team. We lost the other day to a C league team

Can someone please translate the abbreviations on the right hand side of the box score (PP, PR, SF, FF and FS)?

AS is assists. What are the others?

PP = turnovers
PR = steals
SF = blocked shots
FF = fouls
FS = fouled upon

PA has posted the recap for the 2nd match.

Hi again. I'm going to write this post a bit at a time and will write "End of post" when done. This to prevent losing the entire post like I did yesterday due to typographical incompetence.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I couldn't find much on today's opponent, but they are definitely in a lower level of basketball than the others we played, possibly a youth team with a couple of older players.
The dream team Facebook page has photos from the second match, and a link to analysis of the first match, which is on the Roma team's web page. I will translate some of it here.

Oops, lost the translation  and got thrown off the board.  Let's try again (I'm on my new  phone).

(Starting from I padroni, as the rest is repeated info.)

The host team had important absences
(Ricciardi, Santucci and Ridolfi), but had present Bistarelli, Meschini, who grew up in (local town) and currently plays in Grottaferrata, and young Balboni also from [team], currently at Frascati, but who threw his first passes as a player with Tiber's 3-on-3 youth team.

Presentation of the American team was by club president Cilli, accompanied by the American national anthem and an exchange of gifts between players and the team managers.

The game was enjoyable and full of good plays, always close and with Tiber always fending off the Quakers' attempts to grow their score, and concluding victorious thanks to an excellent 4th Quarter.

Top players Valentini 32 points and 9 rebounds, Bertoldo 21 points and 4 triples, and an optimal Reali, above all in the 4th Quarter, where his speed permitted recovery from a 14 point deficit and to win with 2 points to spare.

For the Quakers, Woods, Mijakoski e Simmons (excellent prospect) played very well. Referees were [names] in a match that was friendly but very physical.

The other linked article is the same.

The 1st and 2nd teams we played are both in Serie B which is semi-pro and at the third level of Italian basketball. The team we originally were going to play (Stella Azzurra) is also Serie B. They got into the Serie B playoffs and played several games this week. That probably was why they did not play us.

Penn luckily had a backup plan this time, and was able to get another local team (Rome has 5 Serie B teams) to step in to play us before all the players left for the summer. The Tiber Rome team we played was, we know, missing a couple of regular players but still gave Penn a good challenge. Both Tiber and the Bernareggio99 team had losing records this season in Serie B so they were available for exhibition games.

We don't know yet how many of the Bernareggio99 players were the regulars, and what effect that number may have had on the lopsided score.

Today's opponent is in a lower level of Italian basketball, but I'm not sure which level. The lower levels of Italian basketball are amateur.

End of post.
