The Yale men's team has picked up its first 2019 recruit and it seems like a pretty good one.

E. J. Jarvis is a 6' 8" 212 pound PF/C from the Maret School in D.C. He had offers from Penn and Columbia, as well as Virginia Tech, GW, Lehigh, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Robert Morris.

Jarvis is listed as a 4 star recruit at Verbal Commits and ESPN. ESPN has him with a scout grade of 80. Prep Hoops lists him as the #5 player in the Maryland/D.C. area.

Yesterday, Jarvis spoke to Houston Wilson of Prep Hoops to discuss his decision.

- He has nice touch around the rim and can score it well from the middle of the court. He rebounds well on both offense and defense and has shown improvement on blocking shots. He is a guy that has been boosting his stock over the high school season and early this spring so this is a great early commitment for Yale. -

- Jarvis is excited about the system Yale has planned for him and will be used in whatever way is needed, “I think that I will be used as a power forward who can do a lot; run the floor, rebounding, post up, stretch the floor and shoot. But at the end of the day, its whatever the team needs me to do.” -

- Now that Jarvis has his college decision out of the way, he told us about three things he would like to improve on, “Free throws, finishing through contact and mid range jump shots.” -

According to Verbal Commits, he had offers from Penn, Illinois, Colgate, Albany, Vermont, Stony Brook, Boston University, Fairfield, Siena, Manhattan, Air Force, and NJIT.
