The Bison men, as noted before, will be traveling and playing games in Holland, Belgium, and France from August 3rd to August 12th. Team is allowed up to ten days of practice prior to the tour, so it is possible practice has begun. Does anyone have info? Incoming freshmen are allowed to participate under revised NCAA rules.
Based on the past, I imagine they will play about five games. Quality of the opposition is always a question mark as some of the European teams are good - but teams may not have a number of their players available since it is a big vacation month.
Expect to see some daily updates once the trip begins.

I've seen most of the players on campus at one point or another in the last week. Saw Jimmy Sotos today and Khalil Spear yesterday.

per itinerary they will play four games
i believe quite a few of the guys were on campus during the summer session including the incoming frosh, Sestina who was limited to rehab, Mackenzie, Moore, Toomer, and Newman
i would imagine Sestina's minutes will be limited if he is ready to play at all on the tour, so expect Newman should get a fair amount of game experience

Men's first game is against Amsterdam Apollo on Saturday evening. Amsterdam is in the first division of Holland basketball but last year was not one of the better teams. No idea who will suit up for them on Saturday.

A couple of notes from Nathan Davis' recent newsletter:
1. Both Sestina and O'Reilly are still recovering from surgery. Will go on the trip but won't play. Should be cleared to start playing by mid-August.
2. Eight players spent a significant part of the summer in Lewisburg, including the three incoming frosh. Revised NCAA rules allowed them to spend four hours a week with the coaches on skill development.
3. As noted before, the team was allowed ten practice sessions prior to leaving for Europe.
4. Two fan opportunities the weekend of September 7th and 8th: (a) Annual golf outing on Friday the 7th; and (b) Friends of Bison Basketball Dinner on the 8th at 7 PM, with featured speaker J.R. Holden. There is a football game earlier that day as well.

The Bison blew out an overmatched Apollo Amsterdam team this evening, 94-58. BU scoring: . Ellis 19, Newman 15, Sotos 11, Mackenzie 10, Moore 9, Toomer 7, Funk 6, Robertson 6 (and one ridiculous tip-dunk), Spear 6, Jones 4, Sechan 1. Sotos was 3-4 on threes through three quarters, and Newman was 6-6 for the games.
Bison shot 40.8 FG%, 33.3 3FG% (10-30), 60.4 FT% (26-43).
Funk and Toomer had 4 steals each. Funk also had a team-high 5 assists. Newman had 9 rebounds, followed by Robertson (7) & Spear (6).
As previously mentioned, Sestina and O'Reilly are not playing as they recover from surgery. Due back soon. Also John Meeks suffered a sprained ankle in practice and is currently in a boot. A reliable source says he had been playing very well.

Interesting quote from Coach Davis in there: "I feel pretty good there'll be a new three point record for attempts and makes--hopefully, makes--this year."

It is interesting to see that Ellis was the leading scorer. When was the last time that a freshman was the leading scorer in his first game, unofficial or official, for the Bison? I cannot remember one.

Bryson Johnson? hit six threes in his debut iirc, not sure if that made him high scorer without looking, but seems likely
edit: looked it up, he was high scorer for us, but we lost to Mercer as they had game high scorer who dropped 33.
edit2: only other time i recall (again iirc) was Mike Bright dropping 20 in his debut. think that was against d3 Susquehanna and again, just assuming it was likely the game high.

Bryson was the high scorer for Bucknell in his first game against Mercer. I was in the building in Providence.

not so sure i like that. glad we have a lot of capable three point shooters, but prefer a balance of inside and outside rather than live and die by the three.

If you count preseason scrimmages, Avi Toomer's coach reported that he got 30 points vs Youngstown State - but I can't remember if it was the first or second of the two allowable scrimmages. The other caveat is that scrimmages often go more than four quarters, although I'm sure Toomer played well under 40 minutes himself. However from what I understand, he was not playing vs their starting unit for a lot of those minutes.

Yes, I was there also. Mercer apparently didn't know Bryson could shoot because they gave him the long threes (4+ feet beyond the arc) for most of the game - and he hit 6 out of 10. For the rest of the season, however, he only hit about 31%, before hitting close to 42% his next three seasons.
One thing that likely would surprise people who weren't there is that two freshmen - Bryson and Willman - played over 25 minutes apiece, while Muscala played only 11 minutes. He ended up with 2 points and 1 rebound in his debut.
