Preview is up. Chiarolanzio won the starting spot after Bitikofer was named the starter going into camp

Our offense figures to struggle yet again. Freshnock (upper body?) and Ademilola (leg) are both out for the season

Those are huge losses. Freshnock was likely to be an All-PL RB this year after a strong sophomore year. And Ademilola led the team in receptions last year from his TE spot. Despite these losses, I think the offense should be better this year with the return of 8 of the 9 OL who played last year. The group was very young and inexperienced last year, which really hurt the offense, but it may make the step up from weak to average this year. Another thing that may help is that the offensive scheme is apparently going to be changed. Now if they can also get rid of the extreme conservatism and predictability in the play-calling, there could be larger improvements.
As for the defense, the DB's and LB's should be good, with the DE's pretty good as well. The issue - and it is a big one - is a complete lack of size in the middle of the defensive line. To make things worse, senior Alex Jordan, who was very good a couple of years ago before suffering two major injuries, is unavailable and may miss the entire season. He was the one DT who had the size and strength to stuff up the middle.
Even with the injuries, I think the team may be a bit better than last year - BUT the schedule is much tougher. Gone are Marist and Cornell, with their replacements being Villanova and Penn. That means taking away two likely wins and adding two likely losses.

Bison hung close...had opportunities, but just could not get it done.

Looks like the offense is better than last year, but still struggled to move the ball consistently. I was impressed with the RBs Carter and the freshman Cooper. Let's hope they stay healthy.

One very frustrating thing is that there was an obvious holding infraction on the 75 yard screen pass TD that ultimately won the game for W&M.
I thought the play calling continued to be awful. If I were Susan at the very least I would find a new play-caller. The offense plays most of every game with one hand tied behind its back.

The defense was impressive, especially considering the injuries. They played the entire game without starting DL Nick Zarkoski. And a number of key starters missed big chunks of playing time with injuries, e.g. Bryan Marine and Simeon Page, the only two returnees who have made All-PL. Also starting safeties Joe Lauro and Drew Newcomb were out at various times. Also starting DE Roger Mellado.
Two freshmen looked very good. WR Brandon Sanders started and caught four passes, while DL Grayson Cherubino became a regular on the second series and did well the rest of the game.
The Bison starting DL averages about 235 per man, which makes their performance - after the first drive anyway - very impressive. One highlight was the sack and subsequent fumble recovery by DE Joe Schiano. This was his first game, as he has been injured most of the past two years.

I did not attend the game or see any of the highlights. Are we doing any "no huddle" offense this year with a spread them out approach?
That was the word on the street, quicker, faster paced offense with no huddle a lot.

Yes, they played no huddle most of the game. Didn't seem to help their offensive production.

A lot of no huddle but not a particularly fast pace. And the same predictable plays on first down that leave them facing 2nd and 8 a lot. Now Marquis Carter has joined Chad Freshnock on the injury list, leaving them with RB's who average 165 pounds a man. In fact, they have only one RB who was even a RB when camp started. The other two have been shifted from other positions out of desperation. If they go with the same play-calling this week, they have no shot.

Holy Cross is earning it’s paycheck today the ugly way. I wish the Bison would schedule paycheck games.
