Absolutely fantastic news and great get by Coach Donahue and staff. Recruiting was my one concern when he was in conversation for coach, and happy that I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Looks big, very athletic, and a good shot blocker so just what we need in that class.

His kavanna and intensity were unparalleled.
Every free throw was shot with his eyes closed. The most perfect arc was formed and not a single net string was stirred as each shot gently fell to the floor.
MJ and Rick Barry, eat your hearts out.

Our frontcourt will be amazing with this kid joining Wang, Jarrod, and AJ. Now, if they can add a blue chip PG for that class to go with all those wings....

Max Lorca-Lloyd 09-17-18 08:39 AM - Post#261360
In response to Silver Maple
I think he'll see the court immediately. The other Max will be graduating and we do have others who will play but I think Max LL has the potential to be that true post player we've lacked. Yes - AJ can play the post; however, he and both Mike Wang and Jarrod Simmons have skill sets which can be utilized both inside and outside. And - obviously- AJ can also be deployed in the paint and on the perimeter. It will be interesting to see how both Simmons and Wang develop this year. That will give all of us a better sense of where and how Lorca-Lloyd will fit in once the other Max has graduated.
We do of course have Mark Jackson on the team but nobody has seen him play or knows if he's healthy and can be a plus. Maybe we'll learn more about Jackson and his place on the team this year as well.

It's confusing as we have current Max and then MLL and Max Martz for next year. We need a system to sort this all out.

M1, MM2, MLL3?
So which one gets dubbed "Maximum"?
In all seriousness, I hope this commitment turns out to be a great one for the program and for the kid.
Go Penn!

Do we have any Quaker comp over the past 25 years for MLL? Owens was pretty solid around the rim but MLL's build and greater range offers many additional possibilities.

Looking at some video, Onyekwe comes closest.

I would have said he's more like Archibong in his sophomore or junior year. MLL is taller, stronger, and probably more skilled than Archibong as a Freshman. Archibong continued to grow taller and stronger through his college years though. MLL will still have to work hard to surpass the player that Archibong became.
