Women's senior captain Isalys Quinones is playing for the Puerto Rico national team as they compete in the FIBA World Cup in Spain. The Tournament goes from September 22nd through the 30th.
She was part of the Puerto Rico team that came in 3rd in last year's AmeriCup Games that allowed them to qualify for the World Cup. She was also part of the group that won the recent Centrobasket Tournament this summer.
Puerto Rico is in Group C with Japan, Belgium and Spain. In looking at the World Cup site, the team is ranked #22 in the world and is 15 out of the 16 teams in the upcoming event. A single win would be seen as a huge accomplishment.
The team plays Belgium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., Spain on Sunday at 3 p.m. and Japan on Tuesday at 6 a.m. (all Eastern Standard Time).
