Three weeks before the opener. How many OOC games will the Bison win (out of 12 games)? Here is the schedule, with last year's Pomeroy rank beside each opponent:

ov. 7 at St. Bonaventure 68
Nov. 10 FAIRFIELD 212
Nov. 14 CANISIUS 131
Nov. 25 at Vermont 76
Nov. 28 NORTHEASTERN 96
Dec. 1 MONMOUTH 182
Dec. 4 at La Salle 156
Dec. 15 at Ohio State 16
Dec. 19 at Saint Mary’s 32
Dec. 22 vs URI 52 (Diamond Head Classic)
Dec. 23 vs TCU 24 or Charlotte 306 (Diamond Head Classic)
Dec. 25 vs Colorado, Indiana State, UNLV, or Hawaii

While the latter two games of the Hawaii event are not known, a 1-2 overall record seems somewhat likely. Assuming they lose to URI in Game 1, then they would very likely meet a mediocre Charlotte team. Should they win that game, then they likely would face a good opponent in either Colorado or Indiana State. If they were to lose to Charlotte, then they would face a mediocre Hawaii team. And if they managed to upset URI in Game 1 and moved to the winner's side of the bracket, then they would face a strong TCU team, followed by another good opponent.

How many OOC games will the Bison win?
11 or 12 Wins
9 or 10 Wins
8 Wins
7 Wins
6 Wins
5 Wins
4 Wins
2 or 3 Wins
0 or 1 Win
You may choose one option.

Looking back at this, most of us had the Bison at 5 or 6 wins, right where we ended up, but I seriously doubt that anybody picked the six correctly. The losses to Fairfield and Canisius, I would guess were wins in virtually all of our predictions. I for one looked for us to do better vs Northeastern at home than we did last year on the road ( in other word a win), and I did not foresee beating Vermont in Vermont. I foresaw Charlotte as a win, and that game never happened. Iirc, I think I logically thought we’d win 5, but I emotionally went with 6.

FWIW, the PL teams that showed the greatest improvement in Pomeroy from start until now are HC (roughly 40 places) LU (roughly 40, Colgate and Bucknell, both about a 50 place improvement in rank.

Finally, I have to believe that the UNLV performance is going to do wonders for this teams psyche moving forward.

Looking back to the preseason, a win over Fairfield was a good bet. However Canisius was returning most of their team from a regular season MAAC champ, so that always figured to be a tough game. As it turns out - despite being picked for 2nd in this year's MAAC preseason poll - they have underachieved thus far.

This is where Pomeroy ranked the various Bison opponents prior to the start of the season:

104 St. Bona
224 Fairfield
167 Canisius
128 Vermont
78 Northeastern
175 Monmouth
173 La Salle
41 Ohio State
75 St. Mary's
107 Rhode Island
32 TCU
148 UNLV

As it turns out, four of the above - Bona, Monmouth, La Salle, and Canisius - have not been as good as predicted. Two - Ohio State and St. Mary's - have been a lot better. With the OOC games completed, the Bison rank 76th in terms of OOC SOS - much higher than any other PL team.

63, I had the Bison at 6 wins, but you are completely correct in that I did not pick the correct wins.

#76 SOS is great. Personally, I found this to be the most fun OOC Schedule in quite some time.
New season, new team, new dream . . .

My only complaint with several recent OOCschedules is fewer games at Sojka. Not only that, but a huge stretch of games on the road between home games this season. But on second thought, we have not played well at home so far his season, so maybe the road is the place to be?

Typically the team played 5 ooc home games. Lately it has been 4, but two conference games have been added. Thus, there are now 13 home games instead of 12.

The bison have a hard time getting ooc home games. The win last night is a reason as to why. The bigger schools are not interested in playing Bucknell. Heck they can’t get smaller more local schools to play against them that easily. I would love to see the patriot league play say they A10 in a challenge or Ivy League or the Maac etc. I just feel it would make games more attractive. I love the big ten vs acc.

A10 would never do it for the very reasons you stated. Such an agreement says that “”we are similar,” an admission that the A10 would ever make the re: the PL. What should happen is the schools that have difficulty scheduling ooc should seek out each other. Thus the Vermont’s , Northeasterns, Belmont’s, Ball States etc should look to each other for scheduling opportunities.

Yes, the A-10 would never do it for the reason you cite. Additionally, the A-10 has just reached an agreement to do a series with the Mountain West. The top ten teams from each league will meet in 2020 and 2021, with an option to extend the series for two more years. Maybe even more years to follow.

As suggested by Bisonmania, if the PL is to ever establish an ongoing series with a conference, it would almost certainly either be the Ivy League or the MAAC. My preference would be a three-way deal where PL teams would play one Ivy and one MAAC team each year, with the MAAC's and Ivy's also getting two games in a round robin format.
