Hey Anti, as usual, all great stuff, but Gary Raimondo was not from the Garden State. He's from Buffalo.

Sir,
Thanks for that correction on Raimondo- at least I knew for sure he wasn't from Forest Hills. You seem to be quite knowledgeable, and a person of good character. That stated, I'll now make an effort to follow your lead, and take the high road (for as long as I can stand it; which may be till this coming Saturday night!)

BTW: Your man Kyle Castlin had a very productive beginning to his post Columbia career last night in Xavier's opening day win over IUPIU.
Kyle apparently started at guard and accumulated 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Hope he stays healthy all season long.

Kyle deserved better. Why Hickman started over him still boggles the mind.

Yes, Chet; hopefully Mr. Castlin's hard work and stick-toitivenesswill really pay off over the course of the next five months.
I apologize, however, in that I spat out the moniker for Xavier's opponent of last night incorrectly; that should have read, IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis; with their most famous basketball alumnus being George Hill, presently playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers).

Here's the box score for Kyle's debut in Cincinnati last night where they drew a full house of 10,250 spectators:

Chet, if memory serves, no one, neither Hickman or anyone else, started over Castlin when he was fully healed and fully in shape.

Hickman remained the starter after Castlin was healthy. Some bloggers said it was good strategy to bring in the better player for the lesser player at the first time out. I thought it was nutty and cost us a few wins.

And if Castlin can start for Xavier he sure could have started for us.

Last night Castlin played close to 30 minutes and was third on the Xavier team for minutes played. He never came close to those minutes last year. It still steams me up to think about how he was underutilized. And in a lousy year Instill remember his game saying block at the end of the Dartmouth game.

Chet, after a player recovers from his injury, he then has to show at practice that he is fully back in game shape. In what game do you think that Castlin was back in game shape that he did not start?

You got me there, Dr. V, but my unaided recollection is that Kyle was ready to go for the second half of the Ivy season but was still not starting.

Respectfully, I don’t think that was the case. We couldn’t wait until he could fully come back.

Chet:
Another starting, 29-minute, contributory performance by Mr. Castlin this afternoon in Cincinnati, as Xavier won for the second time- this over Evansville in front of an overflow crowd of 10,533. Kyle never averaged as many 29 minutes per game while at CU; and the only other times he's played in front of this many spectators were Tuesday in Xavier's opener, and in his freshman year, when Columbia traveled to Lexington to play Kentucky.
