Three games into the Xavier phase of his career, Kyle's still starting, playing almost 29 minutes per game- all three of these games were played at home, in front of 10,000-plus, standing room only crowds. Xavier's
record is 2-1, and they're now moving on to Hawaii where they'll play #9 Auburn on Monday, November 19, 2:30,pm, E.S.T. (televised on ESPN2).

Seven games into his Xavier career, Kyle Castlin's still starting (in all seven games, of which Xavier's won four); he's 4th on the team in minutes played; and 3rd for Xavier in both FGPCT and 3pt.FG%. As it is for D-1 players all over the country at this time, the schedule begins to heat up with Xavier playing home games, tomorrow versus Oakland at noon (E.S.T.) and on Wednesday, December 5, 6:30pm (E.S.T.) versus Ohio University- both of those games will appear on the FS1 network. ESPN2 will then carry Xavier's crosstown rivalry game, to be played at the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, December 8, 2:00pm (E.S.T.)

I'm very happy for Kyle Castlin and Xavier. All of us on this Board loved and appreciated Kyle Castlin from the moment he put on a Columbia uniform. Kyle Castlin and Mike Smith were terrific Kyle Smith recruits.

Castlin's rate stats are good, but he's hardly taking any shots with Xavier. Through 7 games, he's only attempted 24 shots, or about 3.4/Game. And many of those are probably from his 10 offensive rebounds. His FGA/Minute must be one of the lowest in the country.

Just an observation. Castlin is a good shooter who is getting a surprisingly low number of shots.

I suppose, but the bigger, more pleasant surprise for me, is that any kid from the IL can spend a year starting on a BigEast school team- one that was a #1 seed in the Big Dance just a season ago.

Kyle played perhaps his most meaningful role in a Xavier Big East conference win this past Sunday
(Jan. 13) afternoon, as his team just got past Butler, 70-69. Kyle started at off guard, as he has in all 18 Xavier games to date, playing 35 minutes; scoring 12 points; adding 7 rebounds (2 offensive), 3 assists and a steal, while accumulating ZERO turnovers. He also converted a big three point basket, as part of Xavier's game ending 16-5 run during the last four minutes of the game which brought them back from a ten point deficit to the win. Going into the Butler game, Kyle's playing time minutes were on a downward trajectory; but he's still averaging 22.1 minutes per game, and he's now accumulated 397 minutes played for the entire season- a total just short of the 418 minutes he was on the court for Columbia, during the entire 2017-18 season.
Xavier very next encounter is against #22, Villanova University, tonight at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, 8:30pm (E.S.T.) and available for viewing on FS1. Kyle's fans can also see him play in person, when Xavier travels to Queens on February 28th to play St. John's University- 6:30 pm (E.S.T.) tipoff.

I loved Kyle Castlin’s game. His injury prone career at Columbia was a real shame. He should have been a multi-year all Ivy player. I hope he has a great run.
