Was reading about this on Twitter...yes, fans are angry and it is hard to blame them. Well really, it should be players he may have recruited that are angry. Would coaches be angry if a top recruit came in, played a year doing very well and then jumped to a different school? Of course. I also read a rumor that he did not tell his team...zero knowledge if that is true.

Looking at the Siena board, I don't think I've ever seen a fan base as angry. And it appears he didn't even get a huge raise. Don't know if he gave Siena a chance to counter - because they might have been willing to match it.
It is a huge raise. And, he was gone as soon as the offer was made. Siena had no chance to match the offer. They knew nothing of it until the deal was done. Similar to last May when they hired him.

Curious as to what you've heard are the exact amounts he made from Siena this year and will make from GWU next year? Reports on the Siena board are that he is going to be making $450K at GWU. Don't know what he got from Siena, but they were paying Patsos $350K and paid McCaffery $450K 10+ years ago - which would be close to $550K in today's dollars. With the massive attendance Siena basketball generates, they could certainly match or beat $450K.

Curious about this. Last May, there were reports for a full week about Jamion negotiating with Siena before it was announced as a done deal. So surely Mt. St. Mary's knew about what was going on - even if there was no way they were going to be able to keep him.

Langel one of the names appearing in speculation about the St Joe's vacancy, along with former Bucknell assistant Ryan Ayers, now at Notre Dame:

The $450K is well off the mark. As for the timelines for the two hires, they were more similar than you think. There was little to no negotiating last year either. Pretty clear in both instances he wanted out of Dodge.

If you believe in destiny, it appears to be Langel's time. Would be a great hire for St. Joe's. And, if he does go, it will be a defining hire for Colgate regarding what they want from their program.

Great effort by Colgate. Burns is incredible. And they hung til the end w/o Ivanauskas.

Did not think Burns could duplicate his performance in the championship game but he proved me wrong. Kudos to Colgate for putting up a good fight. They looked bad in the first half.

Congratulations to Colgate and the Patriot League. I think our level of play has improved as a League so much with schollies. And we are all still turning out fine students.

Wow, great representation of the PL by Colgate. I couldn’t watch but from what I read, it was a very good game. I agree that I didn’t think Burns could replicate his performance from the PL championship but damn, what a game from him. Have not heard what the story was with Ivanauskas...only 4 shots and 0 points.

Maybe Steve can get us the scoop on Ivanauskas. I have to think that the only reason he would not play is because he would do more harm than good. Ist half vs 2nd half supports that. The fact that they came back from 12 down at the half, led a few times, and stayed in the game until under a minute shows how good Colgate is right now.

He had pinkeye. Couldn't get his contact lens in. Tried to go with glasses, but he couldn't see properly. The kid looked devastated on the bench.

Me too. I think this will look like a bad decision by St. Joes in five years. According to the Inquirer, Langel was also in the mix. I would take him any day ahead of Lange.
