Will try to periodically track how the Bison recruits are doing. For reference, here are the commitment threads for each of the four with links to various articles:
Malachi Rhodes
Alexander Rice
Alex Timmerman
Jake van der Heijden

Some tweets on van der Heijden and Rhodes from tonight.
"Malachi Rhodes has been a force download this half. Shown nice footwork on the block with soft touch. Big half for @WheelerHoops"
"Jake Van Der Heijden is just incredible. An utter steal for Bucknell. 3:06 in the 1st Half: Ravenscroft 29, NTA 11."
"Jake Van Der Heijden is simply on a different level right now. Bucknell got a good one, at 6’8 & an absolute bucket getter"
Note that the last two tweets are from different analysts.

Van der Heijden ended up with 24 points in a 64-62 win.
Rhodes' Wheeler team beat Norcross, who was the top ranked team in Georgia's largest division. He had a team-leading 17 points and 8 rebounds. Wheeler, btw, has a player who signed with Cal for next year, while Norcross has one signed with USC plus a junior with offers from schools like Duke, Kansas, and 25 others.
Rhodes team had lost earlier in the week to another strong opponent, a game where he had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block.

Van der Heijden ended up with 24 points in a 64-62 win.
third game for Jake VDH, had 15 and 8 pts in first two games, but apparently caught some early season Bisonitis as he was 2 for 7 from the free throw line per MaxPreps. went 4 for 6 yesterday, along with 4 three pointers.
Norcross has one signed with USC plus a junior with offers from schools like Duke, Kansas, and 25 others.
also a 6-8 pf who signed with Xavier and a 6-9 center ranked as 33rd best senior in the state, so Malachi, who based on video and description continues to work primarily inside, did this against strong competition.

"The two best performances that I saw at the 2018 OTR Showcase was without a doubt 2019 PF Malachi Rhodes of Wheeler HS and 2020 PG Deivon Smith of Grayson HS"
Note that this event brought together 16 of Georgia's top teams. The other player mentioned, Deivon Smith, is a junior PG who already has an offer from Florida among others.

pre season rankings and blurbs on greater Chicago area teams for Timmerman's CLC squad. don't recall seeing his junior season stats previously
77. CRYSTAL LAKE CENTRAL: Big man Alex Timmerman is the first Division I recruit from Crystal Lake Central since McDonald’s All-American Bill Heppner. The 6-8, 245-pound Bucknell recruit averaged 16.1 points and 9.6 rebounds a game last season and is one of seven key players returning from a 17-win team

Rhodes' Wheeler team got an OT win tonight. Opponent has a 4/5 star SF who has 10+ power conference offers. Tweets from writer covering the game:
" Wheeler 76 Holy Spirit 68 . . . Malachi Rhodes finished with 14 points. To lead Wheeler in the thriller!!"
"Malachi Rhodes is a grown man in the post. He is clocked in and going to work for Wheeler"
"Malachi Rhodes is asserting himself in the post! Showing his spft touch around the rim for Wheeler as they lead Holy Spirit 33-25"

A few updates:
ALEX TIMMERMAN: 12 points and 11 boards in a win; 20 points in a loss to a tough team.
MALACHI RHODES: 13 points in a 61-57 win in their region opener. Analysis from a blog that follows Georgia hoops:
"Rhodes is a physical 6’7 forward who can play at a high level. He has a good motor and is active on both ends of the floor. He scores well going downhill finishing around and above the rim. He’s athletic enough to defend positions 3 though 5 in some line up’s because of his length and mobility." (Note: Other sources, including Bucknell, say he has grown to 6-8.)
JAKE VAN DER HEIJDEN: 23 points in a 66-48 loss to a pretty good Charlotte Latin team.
ALEX RICE: Season doesn't begin until December 10th. They play a lot of tough NJ private and parochial schools.

Here are some highlights from Van der Heijden's game the other night, which they lost in double OT to a good Trinity team that features a 5 star 6-9 PF, Isaiah Todd, who has offers from North Carolina, Kansas, and about 25 others. There is more emphasis on Todd, but there are also a number of plays that show Van der Heijden's ability. He is #32 in white.

If I am judging GA basketball correctly, it looks like Wheeler will get a better test tonight vs Westlake than the game you will be seeing vs Aquinas tomorrow.

Rhodes had 11pts, 16 rebs in a 63-62 win over Westlake last night. really like the rebounding numbers we are seeing from him, much against solid to extremely good competition levels. reports on his scoring ability around the rim also encouraging. look forward to ab's observations.

Aquinas vs Wheeler was 26 all midway through the second when Wheeler went on a nice little 51-16 run through the third. Malachi did not score much. He hit both shots I saw him take including one from three. What I really liked was his willingness to make the extra pass to find the open man. I saw at least 5 assists. Also, he was focused on the defensive end more than offense. Active throughout the whole game he moves very well for his size and is willing to do all the little grunt work that makes a team successful.
Agreed Westlake would have been a better look, but the game before was my St. Pius X team defeating the then #1 ranked 7A team in Georgia and I just stayed cause it was easy.

after the LaSalle game Coach Harrison talked about all the coaching staff hitting the road for recruiting as the players focused on exams.
-Davis to see this years recruits: given report that he was at Rhodes game Saturday, would guess he was at the Ravenscroft game Friday night to see Van Der Heijden. Jake only scored 5, but little brother Eric had a big night, maybe he is in our radar for the future.
-Meehan was headed to Chicago, probably saw Timmerman and hopefully other prospects, then headed to Texas and i think Cali
-Harrison was going to Florida
-Griffin headed to the greater DC area

- Malachi Rhodes had 15 points and 10 rebounds, as his #3 (AAAAA) Wheeler team lost in OT to the state's #2 team. The winning team features players committed to Oklahoma State, High Point, and Wingate.
- Timmerman had 23 points and 9 rebounds in a 65-61 league win. One interesting quote:
" The Bucknell recruit is also a talented passer, able to find his teammates on the perimeter or slashing through the lane. “That’s what Bucknell likes about him, his court vision and his ability to pass,†Crystal Lake Central coach Rich Czeslawski said."

Alex Rice: the scheduled opener from last Monday seems to have disappeared from their schedule. first game now listed for this Saturday
Patrick School finally opened their season tonight, losing 65-58 to traditional powerhouse St. Benedict's on a neutral court. Not a fully level playing field, as it was St. B's 7th game of the year. Leading scorer was St. B's CJ Wilcher, a junior guard who already has several P5 conference offers. Also have several other D1 players, including Jake Betlow, who will play for Lehigh next year, and a 6-11 center with P5 offers as a junior.
Can't find an article or stats, but Alex Rice can be seen on the court in the few videos that were available.

You are correct that he transferred to Mater Dei, which is close to his NJ home, for his junior year after St. Anthony's closed. Had played his freshman and soph seasons at St. Anthony's for Bob Hurley Sr. But this past spring, the Mater Dei coach quit. I believe he had some sort of issues with school administration about the program. Apparently Alex Rice and/or his dad weren't happy about the situation, and over the summer he transferred to Patrick School, which has a great basketball tradition and a strong schedule. The only drawback is that the commute to school has to be well over an hour. At St. Anthony's, I'm sure it was at least 90 minutes.

1. Timmerman named his area's Athlete of the Week after scoring 54 points and grabbing 27 rebounds in three wins enroute to a tournament title. After a slow start, they are now 10-4.
https://www.nwherald.com/2019/01/03/high-schoo l-bo...
2. The Patrick School, currently ranked #4 in NJ, defeated #8 West Side 72-59. Rice had 11 points.
3. Prephoops.com just put out its rankings for the 2019 recruiting classes. Not very accurate at the midmajor level, but still interesting. They rank Bucknell's class #110, although it will go down a bit when spring signings take place. If you follow the link in the article, it shows individual rankings. They have Rhodes #259 and van der Heijden #422. The other two didn't make their top 500.
Other PL rankings: 165 Holy Cross, 172 Lehigh, 211 Navy, 218 American (but not as meaningful since they only have two in their signing class), and 239 Army. Colgate has not had a reported commitment yet, but are probably looking for more transfers. Boston U had one signing - but they only had one available scholarship.

JAKE VAN DER HEIJDEN scored 19 points in a showcase win.
"The Bucknell signee shot the ball incredibly well from beyond the arc during this contest, knocking down five three-pointers and showcasing his ability to spot-up or operate within two to three dribbles. He’s very smooth and poses a massive face-up threat on offense. Van der Heijden fits the modernized mold of a power forward, so it should be fun watching him potentially dominate at the next level."
