So, we go down 5-0 early in the first 2 minutes.
For the rest of the half, we outscore them 38-12 with 3 minutes to play. 7 players with a triple (only 3 behind last year's mark against this squad).

Only listening, but sounds like we didn't finish the half like we'd want to see. Our 20+ point lead down to 14 after a 3 at the buzzer.

Antonio Woods enters game shooting 25% from the line in D-I games, and of course misses his only attempt in the half.

And Woods' 2 made FTs put FTs back up by a smidgen. This one will go back and forth all night, most likely.

And Max's performance at the line now puts us in a current deadlock.
Oy.

20 foot behind the back pass by Rothschild but Brodeur misses the 3.
Nice 3 by Donahue and he also did some nice mopping of the floor during a free throw sequence.

The team missed countless layups and still won by almost 30...Defense wins championships. Who would have thought that a hallmark of Steve teams would turn out to be defense.

You can't read too much into a game like this but Washington had a stat stuffer performance.
FTs will bite this team at some point. Missing bunnies may also bite.
The pre-conference schedule picks up now.

We did what we had to do. Now what we have to do is drop ratings killers like Delaware State and replace with at least schools at the MAAC level. We dropped Rider, for example, after losing 2 or 3 in a row. We still play Monmouth. But teams like Rider, Manhattan, Fordham or Iona are much better games to play than bottom of the rung MEAC teams.

Isn't the schedule made a year or two in advance? I suspect that as the team continues to improve, so will its OOC schedule. Isn't it markedly better than 4-5 years ago?
I will also predict our free throw shooting will improve as the year goes on, although it still might bite us is the arse one or two games...

Not really, although it is markedly better than the last 2 years. In Jerome's final season, we played Rider, Lafayette, Wagner (when they were good), Navy, Binghamton, Marist, Vanderbilt, Niagara and Monmouth, in addition to the Big 5 and Ivies. I'd like to get back to that concentration on MAAC teams rather than teams like Delaware State to fill out the schedule.
