I was there. My senior year. Unfortunately, my being there did not help. Steve Honzo's presence did not help either!!!!

The game with UCLA in 68-69 was in Dec. 68, at Madison Square Garden. Don't recall that one. I remember next year, Dec. 69, when we lost at Pauley Pavilion on a last second shot by Sidney Wicks. Coach still talks about that one!

But Hummer was 13 for 16. St. John's had 3 players that went to the pros including Warren, DePre and Billy Paultz (15 years in the NBA).

It would be ironic if Llewellyn plays his first game for the Tigers at MSG against undefeated St. John's. Had a brief conversation with him just before St. Joe's game - nice young man -- who said that he is VERY close. He was way above the rim pre-game and his foot looked fine but they are obviously being very careful.

If one believes HS rankings, he is coming into the league as the top Ivy recruit in many years. I suspect that he will make a major impact like Aikens and Towns as a freshmen. I would not be least bit surprised if he is the real deal from game 1 of the IL schedule but time will tell.

I hope that Llewellyn is a game changer for us. We also need Gladson back. Any inside info on him?

Do I understand you were at the 1969 game in Raleigh?

I'm a little annoyed I didn't look at the schedule this year a little more closely. I could easily have made the game Sunday with a little planning

Unfortunately, I could not attend the game but I did watch a lot of Johnnies basketball that season based on where I lived. John Warren was a very good two way player, 11th pick round 1 of NBA draft. If memory serves me correctly, he guarded Petrie.

As to Llewellyn, he appears to have a soft 3 pt shot based on warm ups. He rarely missed but it was only warm ups. His ball handling skills look brilliant and he has a air of quiet confidence about him. He does not act like a freshmen although he looks young. One thing that I did not like is that his jump shot starts too low but he has a high arc on his shot. He does explode from the floor with all of his shots.

Finally, Jaelin appears to jump a similar height as Cannady and they appear to be just about the same height although Llewellyn may weigh 10-15 pounds less. Hopefullly, he is a better defender than Devin. Cannady may have grown 2 inches during his four years as a Tiger - 6'2" or so.

Watch Jaelin dribble the ball off his foot with his first court appearance but it should be fun when he is on the court.

I am sure Jaelin will be a "game time decision". But I, too, get the impression that he is very close to playing. I watched him warm up the last two games and got the same impression as Bradley regarding his demeanor. He looks like he belongs. He appears very comfortable with the other players and they with him. I have a good friend and alum, even older than I, who was traveling from Boston to his home in DC when he decided to visit the campus.
He looked in on the team only to encounter a terrible sight: several players were helping another off the court. It was Jaelin. My friend gulped and quickly departed the scene.
