Columbia is holding its own against Boston College trailing by only six points at halftime. This is a good Boston College team so it's encouraging to see the Lions stay with them tonight. Columbia's effectiveness can be attributed tonight primarily to the strong play of their two big men, Patrick Tape and Randy Brumant, who play very well together. Engles is trying to use two separate five man rotations, but it is evident that the starting rotation with Tape and Brumant in tandem is significantly stronger than the second rotation, Still, the Lions are making progress in all respects, and playing strong and competitively against a strong opponent.

We had a rare low dip into .500 territory against the ACC when Yale failed to take down the Blue Devils.
Time to go back over .500 against this overrated conference.

Columbia certainly put up a good fight tonight before ultimately losing to Boston College 82-73. At one point, the Lions actually led 40-38, primarily due an outstanding performance by junior center, Patrick Tape, but could not hold onto the lead due to poor overall shooting by the backcourt. Adlesh distinguished himself again with five threes, but Stefanini and Killingsworth didn't have great nights and Bibbs, Hunter and Ellis were non-factors. Overall, the team is making progress, but the Lions are unlikely to win many games this season if Engles doesn't figure out quickly how to get more offense from Bibbs, Hunter, Ellis and Killingsworth.

I am far more optimistic about Ellis and Killingsworth coming on than I am about Bibbs and Hunter. The irony is that we were initially much more worried about the front court, but now, the back court is lagging, and the front court is coming on.

Observation: Columbia had 21 assists and only 6 TO's. Fantastic ratio. Average was 18 Assists vs 13 TO's per game.

Stefanini was not shooting well but had a ton of assists. Hunter will not give us any offense. Killingsworth and Ellis will. Bibbs is a mystery to me.

The Boston College game announcer said tonight that Bibbs averaged about thirty points a game in high school. Obviously, Coach Engles knows what worked for Bibbs in high school in Illinois so why not incorporate some that in our offense. Bibbs is too good an athlete to be shooting only from the outside

Look, I agree on Bibbs. He is a tremendous athlete. I just don’t know what happens when he gets into games.
