Had a chance to see Jordan play recently and his game is progressing nicely. In speaking with him let just say their is NO doubt if he wanted to reopen his recruitment( he doesn’t) that he would have multiple power 5 offers.
In respect to Coach who I really don’t know nor have I spoken with in years it appears in talking to some of the HS coaches and recruits aside from the obvious allure of Penn the school and it’s basketball tradition he is looking for position-less athletes and shooters. I know Jordan was very much sold on coming in and proving himself as a pg but with the flexibility to play and defend multiple spots on the floor

Interesting info. Thanks as always for sharing! Is it your sense that position-less roles are attractive to potential recruits?
Great to hear that on Jordan. I can't wait to see what the next few years bring.

Pleasure to add any value here. I think the concept of position less recruiting in general is taking off and will be more and more. Their will always be the pure pg like a Cole Anthony but the kids are so athletic now and honestly slightly fundamentally poor. At this highest level a kid like Precious Achicwa is being told he will getting prepped to be a one and dine by showing his versatility by playing the 2-5 which enhances his draft appeal. In the case of Jordan it was very appealing because he is still growing as a player and it gives him the ability to see the floor early at multiple spots. I think increasing his teams overall athleticism and shooting is a great idea for coach and I think it shows in the quality of player he’s been able to bring in

From reading a lot of NBA commentary, it seems like bigs being able to defend the pick and roll (especially on switches) is now a huge deal. So any coach who can show that he can teach that (and give a big player chances to prove that during games) to might have a major selling point in recruiting centers and power forwards.

I saw Lucas Monroe play in Abington's win over Plymouth Whitemarsh.
First the numbers: By my unofficial count, Lucas was 3-11 from the floor, 5 for 7 on foul shots, 3 offensive rebounds, 2 defensive rebounds, a blocked shot, 3 steals and two assists. He had no turnovers, but lucked out of two turnovers when bad passes ended up, after deflections, in the hands of his teammates.
My opinions are substantially similar to that of Quakers03, as posted by him two weeks ago.
1. Lucas can jump out of the building.
2. He is taller than our current guards which will enable him to switch on defense without ending up in size mismatches.
3. He is left handed, handles the ball relatively well and exercises a leadership role on his team. He did not attempt many difficult passes.
4. Of his 11 field goal attempts 10 were from inside the paint and the 11th was a short, baseline jump shot. He did not successfully finish most of his drives to the basket, partly because of the presence of McLeod, P/W's 7 foot plus, Florida State bound, center, partly because he did not draw foul calls he deserved, and partly because of his own failures.
5. Lucas did not attempt a single outside shot and affirmatively passed up several open three point looks. I am advised that learning to shoot from outside is recognized to be a skill that will have to be developed after Lucas arrives at Penn.

Some unfortunate news on the recruit front...
It looks like Max Martz is injured. I saw a vague mention in a tweet, so I asked the guy talking about the game and he said:
“Unfortunately Max is injured- back. What I heard is that a guy came under him(while he was in the air- nearly undercut), causing him to land hard(or awkward), and injuring his back. He is using crutches....not sure of the (level of)seriousness. Hopefully his recovery goes well.â€
Not a lot to go on and 3rd hand so take with a grain of salt, but hopefully isn’t something serious.

I was able to see Jordan Dingle play against the Hun School on January 9.
Jordan is well built, bigger than our current guards. Although he played the point for Blair, he is a good athlete, capable of playing either as the point or the off guard. The long distance shots were not falling that afternoon, but the form looked good. Jordan's ball handling was not tested by any type of press and he tended to take plays off (hustle and effort wise) once his team had a comfortable lead.

Pat Lawless watched Dingle play and hit the twitter machine:
I just watched Blair Academy vs. St. Benedict’s Prep | Top performances came from ‘20 Jabri Abdur-Rahim (23 points), ‘19 UPenn commit Jordan Dingle (22 points) & ‘20 C.J. Wilcher (19 points). Blair Academy won 74-61.
Thought Jabri Abdur-Rahim and Jordan Dingle were both great today. Abdur-Rahim played physical and was great around the basket. Dingle did what he does best, which is hit shots and play sound basketball. He also impressed me with how he has developed as an athlete.

Looks like Max Martz played for the first time in a month from the back injury tonight (only scored 5 points in a loss so might not be back to 100%).
I’m wondering if MLL got injured earlier this week. Looks like scored only 1 point in a mid week game and then didn’t play last game. Don’t see anything about an injury but seems a little odd.

Looks like MLL missed 2 games (not sure why), but came back strong. In last game against Brewster Academy, he had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 blocks in a close 71-69 win.

Looks like Jordan Dingle and Blair had a heck of a week too:
- Beat St. Benedict’s (who they lost to in last year’s prep final) and Dingle had 22 points and a few explosive dunks. Can read and see more here: https://jerseysportszone.com/blair-bucs-basketball ...
- Destroyed Lawrenceville Prep in tournament this weekend and Dingle was tied as leading scorer with 17 points
- Beat a very good Westtown team in tournament game this weekend 50-44 and Dingle was leading scorer with I think 13 points

MLL with a very nice game in a close/exciting finish where NMH beat Cushing 82-80.
MLL with 14 points (7 of 7 shooting), 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist and 0 turnovers. He scored the winning basket on an alley oop (after having a put back dunk not long before) and also looks like he challenged the last shot by Cushing that was a miss.

Per MaxPreps he is shooting 68% on FGs on the year (9.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.9 blocks per game averages).
