I hope you are right but before we get too excited, I always go back to the adage that we have to see if they can play Division I basketball which we won't see until next year.

Of course you are correct about this, but I base this on both the scouting reports we are seeing and the fact that there is a good fit between in skills between what this team will need and what the frosh will bring to the party.

Jordan Dingle continuing to have a great year:

- A few weeks ago was named to All Tournament Team of 2019 National Prep School Invitatiinal after playing well and leading Blair in scoring in 2 games against very good competition (went 1-1 but loss was by a point to a top national team)
- Week ago Blair won MAPL Championship, beating Hill School where Dingle lead Blair with 22 points (and was named to NJHoops.com All MAPL Tournament Team).
- A few games ago Blair won and he did this: https://twitter.com/blairbucs/status/1096 778976192...
- Blair playing State Championship Game on Weds

The thing that makes me optimistic about this incoming class is not just the WOM on the individual players, but the fact that it is a big class. With five well-regarded players coming in, it's extremely likely that at least a couple of them will turn out very well.

Apologies in advance if any of this is a repeat.

Had a chance to see the Blair game. Started off with an ejection for a kid spitting on another and after falling behind Blair scored what seemed like 1000 points in second half. Blair has a pg Jaylen Blakes who was sensational. Good student, kid im sure Penn will reach out to but he will get a lot of interest.
They also have jabir Abdur Rahim(Sharif's son) who I will be shocked if he doesnt end up top 10 in his class. As for Jordan his game is maturing nicely. He is really filling out and displayed great intensity, leadership and athletic ability. His shot is improving and he has the ability to be an elite defender. As I told him the tools right now are slightly ahead of the package but hes a young kid with a great work ethic, I suspect should his desire continue he will be a great one at Penn. He also happens to be a great young man that will both make his family and community proud

I watched a few videos of Blair's team. They seem like a fantastic team. I don't think we have had a guard with Dingle's physicality at any point I remember.

He seemed to have a pretty good handle, pretty good shot, and pretty good vision, although he didn't dominate the games in any one of these areas. He just did it by playing with poise in what appears to be a great system with great players.

I'm pretty hopeful that he turns out to be an early contributor to the team.

Watching the latest video of Dingle on youtube, I see a lot of similarities to the game Darnell Foreman developed at Penn, and we certainly can use that. We also have another guard from New Jersey coming in, and he has the reputation of being a superb three point shooter. Watch out for Max Martz, too, because, from the videos I have seen, it appears that he has great court savvy and can really stroke it, reminding one of Ryan Betley. Somewhere along the line, however, we also have to find a power forward on the recruiting trail. As for what's left of this year, we need a sprinkling of pixie dust, and for Bryce Washington and Michael Wang (or Jarrod Simmons, if not Wang), to really step up this weekend and next.

I like the look of Martz from his videos, although he seems like he may have high overlap with Wang in skills. While I won't complain about having more players like that, it could impact his marginal contribution (or Wang's) to the team over the course of his career. On a Donahue position-less team, they could possibly play side by side but I think such a lineup would give up too much defensively against either bigger and faster teams.

I can tell you from what I hear the coaches are very high on Max Martz and feel he can be a high caliber IL player very quickly.

I have seen Martz on video and he is a plus defender and a great shooter/scorer from what I can tell.

Isn't that where Max Lorca-Lloyd fits in?

I'm curious what it is you've seen on video that shows he's a plus defender?

When he challenges shots he goes straight up with his arms up. Most often HS players don't move their feet enough and their arms aren't vertical when they defend. What I saw of Martz, he does a better job than most HS players at moving his feet and staying vertical when challenging shots.

Hard for me to tell much from highlights online but this from his coach Casey after their big win over previously undefeated rival in last few weeks:

Martz, who didn't play in the first game because of multiple injuries, was a difference-maker. The Pennsylvania recruit, who missed 10 games, scored 29 points, including one clutch shot after another when Coffman appeared to be making a charge.

"Max, to me, is the best player in the state of Ohio," Casey said. "Name me a guy more valuable and more complete. He can defend ever position and can hurt you from any spot on the floor. Even more important, he's an unbelievable leader. Having him back for the rematch certainly was a big difference. We knew we'd give them a better game this time around."

I don’t expect him to be able to guard Bryce Aiken, but if he can defend all 5 spots in high school that’s a great start headed into college.

I know folks on the board have looked at him as stretch 4, but at 6’6” he seems more suited to the 3 (and everywhere has him listed as SF).

Shame he got injured and missed 10 games mid season or I’d bet he’d be up for even more Ohio honors end of season.

Always love to have your insight on the board and great to hear about Jordan. Looks like the kind of kid who has the potential to be All Ivy if he keeps putting in the work and honestly with Woods graduating I could see him getting solid minutes next year if he can defend with that strength.

Just curious - did you catch much of Jonah Charles this year? It looks like he stepped up his senior season (certainly hit a lot of 3s), but wondering what else you might think.
