The Lobo Lair is their main board. Now, I know they have a proud history and high expectations and all, but wow; they're at .500, they've been over .500 the last three seasons and are five years removed from a 27-7 team, and yet they sound like us in 2014. People are already talking about getting rid of the coach, who's been there for 1.5 seasons and apparently didn't inherit much from the previous regime.
I will say that even if they're not that great this year, winning in the Pit, particularly coming off exams, would still be a major accomplishment. Also, the official name of the place, Dreamstyle Arena, is one of the few decent corporate arena names. Pity it's not Dreamtime, though.

The Pit is a tough place to play. I'm not expecting an easy game.
New Mexico is a 3 point shooting team with length. Need to build a wall all around the arc while our bigs handle theirs under the hoop.
They don't seem to play much D. Seem to be exploitable on that end.
Hope to see a big game from Brodeur.

Albuquerque is at altitude (higher than Denver.) I remember flying into Albuquerque and having a bit of difficulty catching my breath.
I wonder how much the difficulty of playing in The Pit is due to that.

first off, the board is better than using record. "FIVE HUNDRED"? What. You can't trot that crap out here. New Mexico in 12-13 and 13-14 was 23 and 33 in Ken Pom. In years ended 15, 16, 17, 18. They were between 100 and 125. This year they are 167. They didn't panic early enough. This is how programs die.

I remember losing a close game at the Pit in the first year of the Allen - Maloney team. I listened to it on XPN at P38's house, but it was very late at night and he was passed out on the couch. We got totally screwed by the refs, but still nearly pulled it off. I seem to recall a Tim Krug bucket in the final seconds that was waved off for an offensive foul or a phantom walk, but the details are a little shaky. That was a very good New Mexico team that won its conference and went to the NCAAs.

Wow, I just found the DP article on that game. We had the ball with the score tied and 33 seconds left. A New Mexico player landed on top of Krug and knocked him off of his feet, but the refs called traveling. NM then launched a 22 footer at the buzzer to win by 3. UGH!
Dunphy diplomatically commented that the refs called a walk, so it must have been a walk. Barry Pierce angrily said that he saw a foul on Krug. Man, did I love that team. Nobody played with more fire than Barry Pierce, who truly hated his opponents.

Well, Penn and Old Dominion are a combined 12-0 since getting back from the islands, so maybe we should go on clusterflights more often!

They tweeted recently that they made it to DFW successfully in the first leg of their trip. I figured with the weather on the east coast they'd get screwed again but it looks ok so far.

I think I remember Eddie Jones proclaiming "Barry Pierce is an a hole" after a tight battle at the Palestra. The guy had grit.

The game notes list Max as a starter, but the Live Stats page has Wang starting with AJ, Dev, Bryce and Antonio.
