CU needs to win ONE game, on the road, playing a school team the odds makers have them beating; if we're to believe they have any chance of earning an invitation to the post season Ivy League tournament.

I EXPECT A HUGE GAME FROM TAPE. His improvement has been remarkable. If he continues his upward arc he is all Ivy material. Nobody in the IL has his combination of length and athleticism. 6’10” and he runs and moves like a power conference front court player. His last game was just excellent in all facets against an excellent opponent.

Hope you're on to something, Chet.
This is clearly a winnable road game, and it's vital for our kids to have one of these in hand going into Ivy play.

I'm waiting for the Ivy games. If Coluumbia is anywhere near the bottom of the League, Engles is a goner, and should be.

You never know, Tod. It appears that UCLA needs a coach desperately- at this very moment or sooner.....Perhaps a case of one door closing, with another one opening.

Don't want to jinx-especially since no lead can be considered safe enough with JimEngles on your side line- but Columbia's up 35-22 at halftime in Binghamton! CU is winning the shooting battle, holding the home team to 33%, while keeping their FGPCT. at 50+%. Rebounding is even,CU has a neat 12 assists as a team. And though Patrick hasn't lived up to the words of Chet Forte, Randy Brumant has gone off for 14 points on 6/7 shooting. Binghamton only real big, 6'9" Stewart is taking Patrick, leaving them with nobody Randy's size to guard him, and Brumant's thriving so far. Let's hope the Lions can hold this lead during the final 20 minutes of play- to quote Tod Hawks, "I've seen this movie before!" Engles's really needs to play CJ Davis in the 2nd half, if only to rest Stefanini- having stated the obvious, NOW it surely won't be seen.

They are not going fire Engles, nor should they. He lost his top player to injury, the team has played better recently, he has recruited a fine pg in Turner, and with one year more experience, Ellis, Brumant + Nweke + Tape could turn us into quite a good team.

Engles is a teacher. Next year is the year when the instruction will finally begin to pay off.

Hey, 66. Don't write off the present moment, as neither one of us has that many of them left- despite what Dr. Vainglorious may have assured you regarding your immortality. Also, please don't write off this season JUST yet. KP may have told you that Columbia would only have 2 wins at this point; but like you and me, KP's not always right. Trust your eyes for a couple more months; let's see what happens. Thanks!

I don't know if the writer intended to state that Engles needs someone to TEACH him how to coach the 2nd halves of games; but the lead at Binghamton is down to 7 with 12 minutes left. We don't have till next year to figure this out. Engles has to demonstrate some leadership tonight!

Ugly, awful win. I have to take back all of the good things that I have said about Engles after the way he mishandled the second half. I could count the ways in which he managed to let us lose a 19 point lead and almost blow the game but frankly will say some things that i will probably come to regret. Just a terrible second half meltdown, starting at about the 14 minute mark.

The 19 pt lead disappeared in about 5 minutes, but somehow Steffanini hits a 2 pter at the buzzer and we win, 65-63.

Not sure why we are so streaky, but at least we won on the road, if only by the 2 pts KP said we would.

Chet:
Engles is hardly a teacher; at least not one in keeping with the standards of our core curriculum or those of the Ivy League Anybody putting that noun next to Engles name should really be ashamed of themselves- but people like that are just too short on character and integrity to EVER admit to a mistake.

All I know is that your paesano, Stefanini, hit the biggest shot of the season at the buzzer tonight. And these kids, who've worked so hard to make up for Engles' miscues, finally have their road win, and good reason to continue believing in the possibilities of this current season. And Patrick made you proud tonight, particularly in the second half, coming up with 8 big rebounds and converting on some huge free throws. God bless these Columbia kids; their toughness carried the day and sets a wonderful example for us all.

Stef's winner made up I guess for a few bad plays: 2 backcourt violations, missed shots from his favorite spots.

The announcers noted that Engles could not seem to make up his mind as to when he wanted to call TOs. Frankly we should have Loeb out Binghamton by 20 or 25 points with better game management. I know a win is a win, but the last 15 or so minutes of the second half were a horror show.

Meant we should have blown out Binghamton. Spell check is tricky.

You do not have a right to engage in repeated attempts at character assassination from the sidelines. Who are you and what relationship have you had with Engles that makes you think you can keep attacking his character? Either put up with specifics or shut up once and for all.

It's called the First Amendment; and it relates to one of the highest paid University employees demonstrating absolute incompetence
in the role he's being well compensated for. But don't you dare pontificate to me about MY rights: when you've never identified yourself or your relationship with the University; or offered apology for suggesting on several occasions that I "take my medication"; or defined what exact business a man of your rather advanced age has being observed in a University locker room setting with young student athletes- some of whom are minors and many of whom are down to their skivvies in your view? Why don't you begin by addressing some of these significant concerns that I share with the University about YOU?
I've given you my name and email address and encouraged you to reach out to me to set up a personal meeting to address our grievances in a more intimate setting; but you haven't taken me up on any of my various overtures. Perhaps the actual truth is that's it's long past time for you to cease and become silent forever more.

Internetter, The boy plays himself 36 minutes into exhaustion; hits the BIGGEST shot of the heretofore season; and THIS is how you choose to summarize the events in Binghamton last night?
I really believe the time right for you to utilize your time &Los Angeles contacts most productively, and get your friend Engles placed at UCLA, immediately! If you can't get him the head coaching position, perhaps you can at least get the Facilities Department to hire Jim to sweep the floor of the Pauley Pavilion. Whatever you do be honest with these people: let them that once he's hired, he'll only be coaching half the game- the first half, and no time outs will be requested; and you get him that maintenance gig, he'll only be sweeping half the basketball court. Let your LA people know later today!
Thanks.
