A quick shoutout to Bruce Moore, who had 15 rebounds today. His previous career high was seven. Bruce is capable of many games with double digit rebounds if he puts in the kind of effort he did today.

What factors does Pomeroy use in his ref rankings?

Only two. It's hard to get stats to measure refs, so he assumes the assignors/leagues who choose the refs know what they're doing. Thus he looks at the number of assignments each ref gets, along with the quality of games that each ref gets. Not a perfect system, but it seems to tie in fairly well with subjective views of refs' ability.

When it comes to PL games, it is clear that the CBS Sports Network games, along with games matching the top teams and especially the semis and finals of the tournament, are assigned the refs who are viewed as the better ones. That is likely true in all leagues, so his method likely gives reasonable results. You won't see clowns like we saw yesterday ever doing a CBSSN game or a tournament game or a Bucknell-Lehigh game. But we do get them for the occasional random league game.

This is the lowest scoring win in Nathan Davis's tenure at Bucknell and ties for the lowest scoring game period. The next lowest win was a 59-55 win at Navy on 12/30/16. The other 55 point game was a 69-55 loss at (where else) American in Feb 2016.

going back to the issue of slow starts I'll go back to the following speculations:

1. we struggle in half court action vis-a-vis when we can play with pace over 90 feet
2. our first half performances are consistently affected when we go to the bench (the preponderance of shots from 2 out of 3 of our first in subs are 3 pointers and are being logged at a 35% and 28% pace)
3. difficult for Newman to create his own offense puts additional pressure on scoring in the set offense
4. defense when we sub out first platoon drops precipitously
5. if you net out KM's performance against Bonnies's his 3 pt % drops to 28% (thank God he scores in so many ways and is so effective)
6. most opponents concentrate on taking away KM first even before Nate
7. one thing that's not a speculation is we don't seem to shoot better at Sojka vs OTR...this would appear a significant outlier to me...can we expect reversion to the mean? (16 games seems like a higher enough population density)

137 - can you confirm whether my IMPRESSION in #7 is valid? TX

Although I don't think the home sample size is highly credible yet, you are correct that they have shot better on the road:

HOME: 89-181 on two (49.2%), 51-149 on threes (34.2%)

ROAD: 171-317 on twos (53.9%), 92-251 (36.6%) on threes.

Note that Bucknell's top overall shooter (Sestina) missed two of the six home games. As I mentioned, the home sample size is pretty small. The Bison three-point shooting was at 35.4% before yesterday. Dropped significantly with one bad game.

I expect that the Sojka shooting will eventually improve, although it may not start tomorrow as Floyd is the league's top defender by a wide margin. Having said that, I think it would help if the Bison made more of an effort to get Sestina the ball in spots where he has the option to take a 15-footer or go to the rim.

137 Tx...I’m actually surprised that we are shooting as high as we are at Sojka. My impression after FU, NE, Canisius, Monmouth, CU & AU was that we were probably lower. I look at the team stats after the game but rarely if ever go back and review. Only looked at individual stats this morning. Saw HC beat Canisius and they gave them a real different look defensively in the 1-3–1. Green really overplays at the top to funnel you to one side. Still can’t believe they scored 59 pts against HC at half. That’s normally Carmody’s full game total. 4-1 in PL if we hold up tomorrow is a good result going into Stabler! One game at a time

HC hasn't played as much 1-3-1 this year, but that was a main defense for them in previous years. In fact they played it almost the whole game vs the Bison in the tournament game a few years ago. Also played it in the regular season games.

They played it in the second half (at least late in the game) against Canisius and other than one guy who killed them on weak side rebounds the rest of the team was relatively perplexed. I think we’ll see some tonight because it really slows down the place of play. HC is improved however and he may be more confidant than in prior years that he can match us MTM. We’ll see

Apparently communication is not very good on campus...I count maybe 30 students here 7 minutes before game time.

And minutes later, more students arrived.
