Anyone else a little surprised Brown is a 1pt favorite vs Yale today?

No. They’re playing well and are undefeated at home.

Good answer. In a game featuring many talented players, the kid from Tennessee
-Cambridge- may be the best.

Brown and Yale are the highest KP ranked teams in our League. They are also the only Ivy squads not to suffer some form of significant attrition, whether it be by injury, transfer or otherwise. For Yale, that's in stark contrast to prior seasons. I'm assuming that Cannady/Princeton just shot itself in the foot, which is yet to be seen.

Things can change during the 14 game tournament + the 3 game tournament, but those 2 squads enter healthy and with a full roster.

As for the spread, it seems that Yale is the deepest and most consistent team in the league (at this moment), but that Brown - especially Cambridge - has upside and tremendous variability. If Cambridge hit 7 or so 3's at a >50% clip and at home, Brown will be tough to beat.

If Yale hits 3’s at a 50% clip they will be hard to beat too. Assuming everyone plays to their averages, I think I give the point and take Yale, who has a far more impressive resume than Brown.

Take your point, as time will tell. The one point edge is understandable given that Brown is at home.

The betting line I saw had Yale giving 2.

In other news it looks on the feed like there is a very light crowd for this game. I know school’s not yet in session but that’s just atrocious. Hopefully it fills. Women had a few groups attend and it was a very good crowd for their win vs. Yale yesterday. For the men to have this high stakes opener unattended would be a shanda (shame).

I take it back. Solid crowd.

Yale looking very comfortable offensively early. Moving the ball very easily and seem a step quicker. Brown three sloppy turnovers in the first five min.

Could I also suggest the 6’0 Anderson not try to dunk on the 6’6 NBA prospect Oni?

Brown coming back making it more uncomfortable. Choh with a missed dunk after a crazy path upcourt. But the effort seemed to fire Brown up. Nothing from Cambridge so far from deep.

Yale takes momentum back with some layups inside. Cambridge playing out of control inside with the three pointer being taken away. Phills terrific on D shadowing him.

A half with poor showings by Oni and Dez. Scouts must be disappointed. Yale leading. Anderson playing with some energy but still can’t seem to finish anything or hold onto the ball.

Cambridge gets it going a little with two buckets early. Yale with nice flow on offense as well. Josh Howard looks rusty.

Yale taking control with three by Swain, who got previously jobbed on a bad foul. Dez 3-15 and he’s getting some open shots. Live by the Dez, die by the Dez. Hard to win when he isn’t converting.

Yale clamping down on D and opening it up with under 5 to go. Brown looking a little tentative on offense. Gotta stop turning it over.

That’s game. Yale’s defense was the story. Brown defended well too I thought. But too many missed shots and nobody to pick up the slack. Brown should lose when Dez gets held to 3-18. Good news for Brown is that they made it a tight game at the end despite all that. Bad news is Yale turned it over 20 times but Brown still lost. Choh with a masterpiece and great effort from Hunsaker. Obi was great on Oni, whose highlights were two dunks at the end of both halves.

Brown deserves a lot of credit to give Yale a battle royale considering Cambridge's shooting percentage. Yale seemed to do everything in their power to keep Brown in the game over the last 3 minutes but Brown took advantage to their credit.

Yale did not play great but they are talented and balanced. They will be a tough out this season but Brown did test the Elis.

Yale is very good. Phills did a great job containing DC, Okoli did a great job containing Oni ( except for 2 breakaways). Ivy teams feared the P'ton and Penn. I suspect the B/Y maybe more feared this year.
