There were two interesting comments on the SNY telecast of the game. First, in the post-game, Q made the point that he is one of the few players on our team that has extensive Ivy experience. We've talked about how the unexpected loss of the two players who were expected to be our two best, Meisner and Smith, has hurt us, but we haven't noticed or noted how young we are. The downside is lack of experience. The upside can be that it's not unreasonable to expect individual improvement, which in fact we've been seeing on the part of a fair number of our players.
The other comment was by John Giannini, one of the announcers. He has been head coach at 3 schools, so presumably knows about what he speaks. He said that in his experience, a coach's third year is actually his first year because that's the point at which he has had two of his own recruiting classes and the players have gotten used to what the coach is trying to do.
